I needed extra storage in the kitchen. This rack is just perfect for this. It's lightweight but strong & its finish matches my cabinets. I was able to assemble it in under ten minutes. It was a bit wobbly without anything on it but was steady once I had it against the wall with stuff on it. It would also be very easy to transport this rack as is or disassembled when moving homes, making it perfect for apartment dwellers. I'm glad I got this rack as opposed to heavy metal or wooden shelves, it's just what I needed for my kitchen.
I bought these exceptional bookcases because our living room, like most, features an entertainment area; in our case, corner. We needed taller, sturdier bookcases, and though it isn't in the picture, these match the DVD tower we have also. They're much sturdier than I expected, look nicer, and are just what we needed. I bought the set of two, and the price was great! They arrived just when I have come to expect from WalMart.com, within a few days.
Will you be able to pass these shelves down to your children when you die? No. Will they stand up to a vigorous move down stairs and into a moving van? Probably not. But will they provide quick, simple, attractive storage when you need it? Yep! These are a nicer version of those plastic utility shelves with the supports that fit into the shelves above and below. The shelves are press board and the supports are plastic tubes that screw together. I got three of them to make more practical use of a dining room wall. They look fine and are even cuter once I added some baskets and stuff. They would make good bookshelves. But I would be cautious about putting heavy items on the top. They seem like they would tip easy. They were super simple to put together. No hardware or tools required. It is impossible to mess up. I am thinking of buying one more for my bedroom.
These look great in my studio apartment. Easy to essemble and sturdy. Fits two cube fold down storage cubes on each shelf easily.
I bought several of these units when they were still in Walmart stores, about 5 or 6 YEARS ago. I am still using them, and adding units now. I have an old house with 9' ceilings. I configure these 7 shelves high and LOAD them down with hardback books, videos, etc. Due to height/weight, I add a twist of wire connected to hooks set in studs on the wall behind for safety, just to insure they don't get pulled over. They look decent assembled in part because they "disappear" into whatever you put on them. I didn't give the features 5 stars due to the following. 1) The shelves are laminated press board. Sturdy, but keep away from water. Wiping with a damp rag is fine, but they will melt if dowsed in a flood. 2) The supports are plastic, again sturdy, but will break at the screw parts if the shelf is moved with weight on it, or even dragged incautiously when empty. I'm buying both for expansion and an extra set for part replacements that have broken over the years. I wasn't always as careful as I should have been. Still, if handled with care in moving, I can attest they do last for years under heavy loads. (Picture note: one 5 shelf unit in the set sits on a small credenza I use for office storage. These also work great as light shelves to put on top of other pieces.)
This is a GREAT Product! The value for the price is just unbelievable. I just purchased a new home and needed shelves for all my books because my previous apt had shelves built in. I searched for weeks looking for attractive inexpensive book shelves and finally found them at Walmart Online...I love my book shelves!
When ordering the corner "light oak" unit, the 3 shelf "light oak" unit or the 5 shelf "beech" unit - they ALL MATCH each other even though they say "light oak" and "beech". I bought 1 corner unit, 1 three shelf unit and 4 five shelf units. You DO NOT NEED a big car to load these boxes. All six boxes fit neatly in a VW Bug with room to spare. Way TOO EASY to assemble. People complained about the size. You just need to read the CLEARLY STATED dimensions on each product description to see if this is the size you want and need. They are GREAT ORGANIZATION for tight spaces. The black spacers are plastic but sturdy and look exceptionally nice. (Please see my photographs) On the close-up photo you can see the nice wood grain shelves and the black spacers. REALLY, NO TOOLS REQUIRED and I am handicapped. My sister who spends way too much money on high end furniture actually likes them too. They work well for me in my small home office. You cannot beat the price. ENJOY if you decide to Order. PS - One tiny draw back that is NOT a problem for me - - - As you can see from the picture I put my Canon Color Ink Jet Printer on the top shelf of the 3 unit shelf. When I send something to print at that printer the unit gently sways. Now my larger Samsung B&W Laser printer does NOT sway but does not fit very well on the unit so it sits on my corner desk top. PEACE.
Doesn't require tools, but also - didn't come with instructions. So, hopefully you can decipher from pictures how to put it together. Wobbly without any weight on it. Looks good put together, except for the corners of nearly all the shelves are beat up and crumbling off. I've got the worst ones turned to the wall. For a “cheap” and easy shelf system, it's worth the $40.
I absolutely would not pay more than $25-$30 for this piece. I lucked out and got a 2 for $49 deal. Which is totally fair. The wood had damaged corners the bars are a very cheap plastic. It is convenient it's lightweight. I got it to hold craft supplies. It'll do what I need it to do as a bookshelf. but if you're looking for something solid and sturdy for the price point, this is not worth it.
did not come with bottom 'feet', as pictured. bottom shelf sat directly on floor, so i got 4 bricks, spray painted black, rested bottom shelf on those, all good. did not come with any 'top closure' , the top shelf is not secure, can just 'lift off'. all shelves like this would need to be secured to wall if have children. i'm fine with it, but would NOT have paid this price,, woulda gave $25.00 at the most. the shelves are good and the plastic supports screwed together nicely and look fine as well. you are NOT going to move it without attached feet or with the top shelf 'floating'. height from bottom to top shelf is 54"
