I could have bought it at Amazon for less (same price but no tax and shipping cost). However after read the review from previous Amazon buyers, most of them complain about the poor packaging, damage shipment or missing keys, I decided to go with Walmart and glad I did. The heavy safe come in on a perfect condition. They packed it in double box and filler cushions, and shipped by FedEx which is a lot better than other carriers. The instruction for the code programming is very clear and easy to follow.
I bought this as a gift. They loved it. I'm now buying one for myself.
We used to own a digital safe with emergency key. When the keypad broke, we were be able to use emergency key to continue using it. Now we need a bigger one, so we want a digital safe with emergency key. However, all of digital safe from Sentry Safe doesn't have that. We found this and we love it. It's a very solid and well constructed safe. I wish I got the bigger one that will fit document lay flat.
The Safe arrived with huge dent on the back corner in the middle (not on top or bottom). The unit came in the original box sealed and placed inside a bigger box. The top and bottom part was sufficiently padded, however, the areas in between has none, a heavy item such as this one can get easily damaged when dropped hitting the unpadded areas with a hard object or surface causing damage to the unit inside. I used "Ship to Home" option so I don't have to carry this heavy Safe but I got exactly the opposite as I had to carry this thing and return it to the store. I was refunded the purchase price but not the shipping cost. It was delivered by FedEx. I will purchase this Safe at a store next time if I can find it at any store. The unit did look solid and I would have been very happy to keep it if it was not hugely dented.
This is a great safe. It offers security but also fire protection, the main reason I bought the safe. The keypad basically allows the key lock to be turned and therefore the safe to be opened. It works well, I would recommend because it has both the keypad and lock.
After searching the internet for a decent sized safe for home this one turned out to be the best deal. Was well packaged, and not difficult to program.
We bought this because it was supposed to be bolted down... It is but you need to bolt it down from the feet of the safe. We thought you could bolt it down through the center of the safe. In the instructions it says to bolt it down to a piece of furniture, a table. We had to go to Lowes and buy longer screws and bolted it through the basefloor of the closet and basement ceiling... It seems sturdy... We are going to add a false wall to the closet for extra security
