This is an excellent box for storage of charcoal and other BBQ equipment. I would like to buy accessories, eg basket, dividers and lid pocket. Cannot find on any site where I search for "R'Maid Deck Box accessories". Re water getting in: We use a hand clamp on the box's lock site when storms are coming. Keeps lid down and rain out; prevents lid thumping noises as winds lift and drop the lid. I would like a storage basket as advertised, but not available, to store my hand clamp neatly inside. WHERE can i get the accessories?
Took only minutes to put together. Perfect storage space for the smaller yard tools, grass seed, leaf bags, etc. No more running in and out of the cellar for the things I need. Can never go wrong with Rubbermaid!
I've owned a couple of Rubbermaid outdoor storage boxes over the years and this one is BY FAR the best one I've ever owned. After reading some of the less than favorable reviews here, I can't, for the life of me, figure out how my experience is so much different from the experience of those who are leaving negative reviews. First, assembly was a breeze. I had this box completely assembled in under 15 minutes. Maybe it helps if you have the space to spread out, like I did, but whatever the case, everything is clearly marked and the directions are plainly written and easy to follow. Second, it's a big box, so I was a little concerned about the integrity of the lid when under a load, due to the span it covers. Well, I'm the load and I don't notice any indication that this won't hold two over-sized adults, easily. Third, considering the amount of stuff this thing will hold, I found it to be the best bang for my buck. I admittedly shopped around a bit and found a great, fully delivered price, but even retail seems right in line with the other junk on the market (believe me, there are a couple of brands I didn't even consider when doing my research). The bottom line is that the box I bought was easy to assemble and is plenty sturdy for outdoor storage, with the bonus of extra seating on the patio. It's tough and all panels fit together very well. There is no bowing or binding. I didn't install the lid strap, because I can't open the lid past 90 degrees, due to the fact that it's up against a wall. It seems like it would help for anyone who can open it past 90 degrees. I expect this to last me many years and I'm so pleased with it, I'm considering a second unit, just for the flexibility it gives my outdoor space. I wish I had more info for those of you who have had less desirable experiences with yours but I'm at a loss as to how that could even be possible, considering how well mine performs. Highly recommended for those who need inexpensive outdoor storage.
We already have one like this, but older and the colors are different, so we knew what we were getting. The assembly is easy, my wife put ours together. If the one we already have is any indication, it should last a long time. Ours sits outside in the New Mexico sun and us still holding up good.
I did a lot of research to make sure I bought the right box. The box is just what I needed. Easy to put together(5 mins) The box is sturdy and you can lock it. Let's face it, this is a storage container for about 80 bucks. You can't beat it. I read reviews and today I just think some people are just never happy. I have this box on the dock for boat supplies and it is holding up just fine.
This is a great seat but not good for outside storage as sunlight comes through every seam. Yet the description says its made for storage outside. Anything I store in there will be subject to the weather and bugs. Also the lid has a place to put a lock, but the lid does not line up right. I am very disappointed, especially because I believed Rubbermaid was a good product and paid more because it was Rubbermaid.
I bought this a few days ago and the pieces do not fit together properly you can see daylight where the parts should fit together. there was a puncture hole in one side and the top doesn't close its off by inch or more. The whole thing is warped, junk.
I recently purchased two deck boxes (5F21 and 5F22). I'm having the same problem with both boxes: while the pieces in each kit fit together easily, there is nothing to hold each piece in place - the pieces don't lock in place nor are there any pins. Consequently, the slightest bit of pressure causes the entire box to collapse like a house of cards! What am I missing?
the front and back panel tabs do not align with the bottom tab slots. the unit cannot be built. it must be trashed or returned. like a good citizen I recycled the corroguted which will make return a problem.
Bought to storage outdoor toys through the winter...is a different color than pick. Followed directions and could see through the seams on the side. Would definitely not keep anything dry through the winter. Returned it!
