This phone replaced my LG G2. I thought it would be for a few paychecks until I save up for the LG G3. However after two weeks I can honestly say that this is the best deal ever! At this price range I have a fast, nice screen, water resistant phone that works smoothly. It is the best low end-mid range Android I ever used! I will save the extra $400 that I would have used on the LG G3 and buy myself some new clothes!

This is my first Kyocera phone. I recently purchased one to replace my LG L70. Overall I am extremely pleased. I got mine from Metropcs for $50. It is very zippy for a budget phone, and runs all my apps no problems, no lag. Display: The display is bright clear and crisp, excellent for a budget phone. Camera: The camera is a hair better then your standard budget camera, especially in HDR mode. Pictures look great and no issues there. Sound: Speakers work good, volume seems plenty loud, standard budget phone sound on speakerphone. Onboard memory: Amazing for a budget phone with almost 4GB still available for user after factory apps are installed, plus your SD card. RAM: 1.5GB over a standard 1GB found on most budget phones. Makes a noticable difference. Processor: Quad Core is nice, it's a step up. Not high end phone fast, but definitely faster than a dual core. Call quality: Standard for a budget phone. No better or worse then my LG. Reception seems on par with most phones in this group, no issues with dropped calls or missed messages. Battery: Battery life is way better then most budget phones. Goes all day with medium to heavy use and still has some charge left. Overall: Awesome phone for the price. Seems a step above most other phones in this price. The durable and waterproof design is a bonus as well.

I like the fact this phone is constructed to withstand things we encounter in daily life. It claims to be waterproof and able to withstand drops. Taking the back off to install the SIM card, battery, and micro SD card revealed a gasket to seal the "electronics bay". Close up inspection of how the back attaches and the way the gasket seats lends to the credibility of it being waterproof. The SIM card rests in a small removable tray beneath the micro SD card slot. It came out with a little resistance using my fingernail. I inserted the micro SD card (32 GB limit), and the battery. I plugged in the charger and set the phone aside. My trusty "P3 International Kill-A-Watt Electricity Usage Monitor P4400" (available from Walmart) showed the charger consuming 8.5 to 9 watts as it began to charge tapering down to 0 with the battery fully charged. With the phone fully charged I went to the T-Mobile website and signed up for the $30 a month unlimited data / texts with 100 minutes talk time. My primary use for the phone is portable internet access. Having activated the phone I launched Play Store and downloaded Netflix, MX Player, the Walmart App, and the AnTuTu benchmark app. The processor is Qualcomm's MSM8212 quadcore clocked at 1190 MHZ. System RAM is 1.5 GB with 1.4089 GB available. The GPU is Adren0 305 driving a 960 x 540 display. AnTuTu benchmark result is 15124 "Good job, welcome to the world of high-end smartphones". CPU: General, Supports most apps RAM: Good 2D Graphics: General 3D Graphics: Good, Fluently support most games. Currently running Android 4.3 Jelly Bean with kernel3.4.0-gc40255c dated 17 July 2014. Netflix works flawlessly with 4G and wifi. Surfing the web is fast. Front camera is okay, back camera is about what you'd expect for this price point. Video recording is decent at 720P. Low light capability is grainy. You can download the user manual from Kyocera's website prior to purchase. It is not included in the box. I'm coming from the Samsung Galaxy world and will not hesitate to recommend this phone to everyone. The performance level belies the modest purchase price. Kyocera is a long time manufacturer of electronics and has been known for quality builds. Way back in the days of audio cassettes I had a Kyocera recorder and it worked flawlessly day after day for years. My initial impression of this phone is it will do it's job now and well into the future. No more fear of thunderstorms producing downpours and drowning my phone!

I have only had my phone a few weeks now but so far I love it.its fast easy to use and I love the front camera option. It makes taking pics a whole lot easier. I also love the amount of memory available. I can update my apps and not worry about overloading my phone.its sleek shape is nice.I have already recommended this phone to my dad.I did a ton of research when looking for a new phone and for the options and memory I wanted this phone is the right price.it says this phone is waterproof but hopefully I never have to test that option.

Water resistance and its toughness were a plus for me. So far it has been dropped twice on a concrete floor and suffered no scratches or dents. Initial settings were a pain but tweeking the phone took care of that. The only real downer is battery life. It seems to be shorter than my old 4 year old Samsung.

I wanted a water proof phone but, didnt find the xperia Z3 worth the 600.00 installment plan on Tmobile. The Z3 front camera was horrible and, it didnt feel comfortable in my hand. I dont like glass rear or backs on phones so, i decided to try the hydrolife. Good featured phone with decent customizability options. Not a lot of extra apps from the manufacture like Sony and samsung would have. However, as most low end androids the cameras are mediocre compared to the low end Nokia Lumia windowsphones. The battery life is bad on the device for a meddium- heavy user. The water proof is true and durability is excellent. The antenna and, voice quality are great. Although, its a good phone for someone not heavy into voice calls or internet, the LG optimus F60/F70 are better options. You will have to have the MetroPCS versions unlocked but, once you do; its a much better phone. The wifi calling works on the Tmobile network being that Metro is a MVNO of Tmobile but, network lock all their phones.

Product arrived timley. Securely packaged. Needed to give it a full charge prior to inputting user information. Phone is fast. Faster than my last 4g phone. Just ordered the hard shell outer case to give it protection in case of drops. I like that the battery can be replaced. The battery lasts a good amount of time before needing a recharge. Ease of downloading apps from google play store: good. I like the size not too big. Just ordered the 2 year walmart extended warranty for peace of mind. so far so good.

We were very excited when the Kyocera Hydro Life was added to T-mobile's mobile phone lineup. The phone has numerous cool and useful features and is a competitive smart phone for the price. The main draw backs are the slightly outdated operating system, terrible battery life and the inadequate internal memory (8GB of ROM). The phone's features are numerous and it looks like it will be a fantastic phone for the price....on paper. When we received the phones we quickly encounters its numerous flaws and shortcomings; I bought one for myself and one for my teenage son. Within 2 weeks we had to return my phone and exchange it for another because it just stopped working. Over the next two months both of our phones began having serious problems. This phone is plagued with glitches that quickly make using it a nightmare. It drops calls, it restarts itself over and over...all day long, during use and while in rest mode, the outdated operating system hogs up most of the internal ROM and it has difficulty writing to an add on micro-SD card, it gets very hot while in use and quickly over heats and shuts down, missed calls and text messages often show up hours after they are sent, it isn't shatter resistant (one drop and the the beautiful display on my son's phone was totally shattered), etc, etc, etc.. Thank god for service plans which I highly endorse if you purchase this phone. The worst thing is this phone has awesome potential and nearly all its flaws could be corrected by simple software updates. There are scores of complaints about many of these issues on the web but none have been addressed by Kyocera. I wrote to Kyocera personally and never received a response. This phone has the potential to be great, especially for the price but until Kyocera commits to updating the system and fixing the numerous software glitches and defects this is not a phone I would recommend to anyone. The only good thing is that the service plan I purchased from Walmart has been great about the replacement of both phones. We received a free prepaid label for UPS and received our Walmart gift cards within 36 hours of dropping off the phone with our local UPS provider. I wanted to love this phone and did love it for a couple of weeks but the troubles start early and don't stop until the phone either dies or becomes impossible to use. Buyers Beware!
