I bought this thermometer because it was recommended by a naturopathic doctor. In fact I bought four of them to share with my grown children. This thermometer has a battery and will indicate when the battery needs replacing. It reads a temp very fast (beeps when it's done) which is a great plus. It snaps into the plastic case (so if a child does get hold of it, they cannot fling it out). The price is very reasonable; shipping was fast! I'm happy. BTW I've had this for only 2 months so if any problems arise I will return!
The thermometer is accurate and works as described. I compared its reading with two other thermometers, an old fashioned mercury type and a lab thermometer, using warm water. It is very accurate. BUT...because of the tip's thermal mass, you need to change its placement a couple of times before the peak temperature cutoff is allowed to be reached. So under my tongue, say, I move it from the left side to the right and back a couple of times. If you do that, the reading will be extremely accurate. Otherwise, it will be as much as .5 degree low. I actually do this with other thermometers too, and it stands to reason.
Features a replacable battery, not a throw away product. Easy to operate. Fast and accurate reading. Excellent value for the money.

Thermometer is small display shows reading clear for $ 4.98 it works well and is accurate mine doesn't beep but still nice happy with purchase and timely delivery
THERMOMETER IS SLOW. IT TAKES ALMOST 1 MINUTE TO REGISTER YOUR TEMP. NOT FOR KIDS, BECAUSE IT TAKES TOO LONG. GOOD FOR ADULTS.
