I like that it really takes care of the odor, lasts longer in between changing it out. I don't like the dust, it goes everywhere if you have a litter box with a sifter.
I have had cats all my life and have tried and tested many litters. By far this is hands down the best at odor control and value. At this time I only have 1 cat and the bag lasts for a month. Normally I had been purchasing this at another store in town and was extremely upset to find it no longer on their shelves. Not sure why they stopped carrying it but it really ticked me off. Happy to find it at Walmart as I didn't want to have to switch my cat again. She took to this litter with no trouble and unless you see her you can't even tell we have a cat.
These fresh step crystals are great, i use them with the litter along with the pine. they help extend the use of the litter between changes. Also it helps cut down on my one cat that goes outside of the box because of smell. It also keeps the house from smelling like a litter box.
I decided to try this because clumping litter is heavy (even the lighter weight version), and there was a lot of tracking. I have 2 cats and 4 litterboxes. I started by switching one litterbox to the new stuff. Both cats immediately preferred it over the clay. Now 2 of the litterboxes have this litter. I don't know if t he cats will even want to finish off the clay litter, but it's in the other 2 boxes for now. I love how it dehydrates everything. You can scoop out the poop and the urine is just absorbed. I thought I'd have to stir it from time to time, but the cats take care of that. There is no unabsorbed urine in the box. YMMV, according to other reviews. I'm very happy with this stuff. Now if only it were a little bit cheaper. (But one package is enough for 2 litterboxes.)
So I wanted to wait a couple weeks before making this review so here it goes! I was having some problems with a strong Tom cat pee coming from the litter box since my male kitty is not neutered yet, I tried several litters in the past and always ended up switching because I had problems with the stench, tracking, clumping litter hardening in my medium and long haired kitties paws, dust etc. I have probably went through almost every type of litter no joke! (I am super picky) I stumbled across crystal cat litter and thought I would change the litter one last time and holy crap I am impressed y’all! This stuff is great, no stench, low tracking, clumps tight around their poop so it’s really easy to scoop, and weirdly enough it’s aesthetically pleasing. If you are wondering the pee is absorbed in the crystals and to keep it fresh you just clean out the poop and stir the pee soaked crystals around! Will keep using this stuff.
I use 4 different types of litter for a household with 9 cats. This particular litter I use in a large cement mixing tub that is kept in one of my bathrooms. I only change out the litter once a month and scoop it daily. It is excellent at curbing the smell of feces because it dries it out and the urine dissolves the crystals/evaporating over time. By the end of the a month, the urine smell is just beginning to get stronger and it a great bathroom litter. However, it does track out of the box quite a bit in their feet so a litter tracking mat is highly recommended. Although some cats can be picky about the feel of litter, my cats have access to 2 different types of clumping litter and also fresh step non clumping clay litter in multiple different boxes throughout the house, but I do believe almost all of my cats have been seen using this box at times.
I use the crystals in my automatic cat litter box 2 of my cats don't like to scrape the litter, so having the automatic cat litter box helps move the crystals right away and keeps them going longer than in a normal litter box. I find them to be perfect when using an automatic cleaning litter box.
I'll never go back to clay litter again, this lasts 30 days for my kitty- she's small but poops like a dump truck. 10/10 recommend, very very little dust, less tracking around the house (none of you have a perforated Matt). Odor control is top tier, I never small this box unless it's the end of the month- even then it's just an odd smell not a full on cat urine. It's worth the money and is cheaper in the long run.
Light weight and really easy to clean. Kills odors and litter stays in the box not on my two kittens feet. I will definitely be ordering again. I also loved the quick delivery.
I recently tried a big name crystal litter and was so impressed that I made the switch to crystals from my tried and true Fresh Step Fresh Paws Clay Clumping litter. Since I think highly of Fresh Step I gave their crystal litter a try, expecting it to be great. I started out with a brand new cat box and a 3 inch layer of Fresh Step Crystals. I aways scoop my cat box several times per day, and I stirred the crystals regularly. Two days in, the smell of urine was quite strong. I added more crystal litter periodically, but by day 7 I trashed it. The stench was truly unbearable for everyone in my home. Not only that, but the crystals are so large that it tracks terribly, and not just around the box, but throughout my entire home. And they are painful to step on. It was so bad I had to vacuum once or twice daily. When I scrubbed the new cat box to add new litter, the entire bottom was stained blue green, so I trashed it too. If your cat box isn't on your main floor, it may be fine, but even then, the stench will likely rise.
