Other reviews were somewhat amusing. This is a gravity fed watering system so you do fill & assemble it "upside down". Turn upright quickly. Cleaned with dish soap/warm water before first use & future cleaning. I even took the plastic wrap off the charcoal filter pack. All this with no instructions. If these common sense steps are complicated/confusing to you then you shouldn't purchase this product or better yet not have animals. Product works just as it should. 100% satisfied.
We have had one of these filtered water bowls for our two dogs for many years. The micro ban technology really works! We chose this water bowl after a lot of trial and error as my little poodle was afraid of the noises other brands made. This gravity water bowl is very quiet and does not scare my little dog due to bubble noises. Highly recommend! The only reason I recently bought a new bowl is because my husband put the bowl on the bottom rack of the dishwasher and it got warped (doh!). We now know not to do that!
I've used this before, but cracked my old bowl and replaced it with one that had a narrow neck. It made it impossible to clean the algae out of it and was hard to put in the base.
Bought this and my 9yo son filled it up and gave it to the dogs. The filter floated to the top so I tried taking it appart. Took me about 5 minutes. ***the key was I had to turn the tank upside down, stuck my hand in there and grasp the black lid that Is on the water tank. And turn it until I popped it off. Very solid build/materials compared to what I've got before. This one will probably last me 4 years... if no one drops it. I've got to say it isn't fair to rate this product low because you can't bear the weight of a full tank. That comes with the territory of being a big dog owner (how do you carry the food if you can't handle this?). I am not a fan of the charcoal filter needing replacement after a couple months. I'll ditch the filter and gladly keep this sturdy product. Instructions would have been nice.
Is it perfect? no. but it does a great job for my 3 large dogs. I have used it for 5 years with no issues. Here is a tip for those that have issues with getting the bottle off the base. Once you have it off the base, take some duct tape or marker and mark on the base where the notch is located. do the same on the bottle where the notch is located. Now you know exactly where it needs to line up to remove the bottle from the base. It can be a little bit of a challenge at first lifting and putting the full 4 gallon bottle on the base but you get use to it eventually.
we have 2 of these, they work. the plastic top is not well attached to the bottom of the bowl. the tank is hard to separate from the bottom but it does hold a lot of water, and we have 3 large dogs that drink a lot of water. not many other options out there for this product.
I bought this several months ago because I needed a higher volume waterer for several cats and a dog. I like the filter but there is little clearance for water volume in the basin. I get less than one inch of water. I need to make sure the bottle is NOT fully settled to accomplish this. This is a design flaw. Also I would appreciate a handle to help "grab" the bottle to settle it into the basin because it is very unwieldy otherwise.
I bought a large Replendish, filled it with water and the water is flowing out all over. No instructions whatsoever, and it appears that there is no way to adjust water flow. Wondering if mine is defective? Maybe half of it is missing?? Since the instructions consist of 2 absurd little drawings that tell the user nothing I am extremely frustrated.
So after reading several reviews I seem to have a bad assembler. No matter how hard I try I cannot get the jug off the bowl. Upon inspecting the locking track inside it would appear my jug got shoved on the bowl and the to two tabs that hold the jug to the bowl are actually trapped in the part of the jug thread where there no gap to release it. Very angry and frustrated right now.
I have two large dogs and needed the 4-gallon size. Ended up dropping it...twice...when trying to turn it upside down. It survived the first drop, but the second drop killed it. Broke the cap. When full, 4 gallons is heavy. There is nothing to hold on to. It needs a handle of some sort. Too much for me to handle. :(
