My Nook was old and I tried to find an dresser that was just that a good e reader. My nook finally stopped working and reading was difficult because it started freezing up and not working like it did, probably 20 years old. This Kobo was just what I needed and takes so many forms of reading format. Definitely worth the money.
I bought this e-reader when our library temporarily closed due to the pandemic. I was panicking because I am totally hopeless with technology but really needed my books. This e-reader is VERY easy to set up. I did it in 5 minutes, which means anyone can do it. It already has Overdrive loaded on to it (the app for borrowing from library). It is really user friendly, small and lightweight. I got a cover for it for "sleeping" and hands free reading. I couldn't be happy with it
This is my first Kobo e-reader and I am very pleased with it. I own for many years the Kindle Paperwhite, I was looking for an upgrade without burning my wallet. I did my research and I found the Kobo Clara HD had everything I was looking for a reasonable price. All my books from the Kobo/Walmart Library appeared instantly, I was able to borrow books from my local library thru the Clara HD reader. I love how the light adjusts to my environment. I am not missing anything. I was able to make the font bigger on the books. This e-reader is very simple to use. It is easy to charge and the battery does last a very long time. I love the point that I am not bombarded with ads. The touch capabilities are outstanding. The e-reader is easy to hold. The quality is superior to the competitor. I really recommend Clara HD. If you are looking for a new e-reader, moving away from the competitors' systems, or just wanting to have the ability to be in both worlds, then by all means buy it. You will not regret it.
I love my e-reader! This is the first e-reader I have bought and it's great. I can check books out from the Orange County public library for free. With Covid I don't want to borrow real books or buy 2nd hand books so this is a great alternative. It is lightweight and very easy to use. You can change the amount of "blue light" so that I can read books late at night without it affecting my sleep, which is a feature found in more expensive versions of the Kindle. I also bought a cover for it with a picture of the Eiffel Tower at Walmart.com and I love that also. Great buy (both items)!
This is my first E-reader. I chose it for seamless use of Overdrive from my library. Easy to set up, easy to figure how to download. I have not explored many of the features but I know there are more than I will ever need. Excellent for those who want to use Overdrive for free books from the library.
After doing some extensive research I found the Kobo Clara to be the best e-reader for my wife. It is compact and easy to use. The white pages are like reading a book and the font is adjustable for personal reading preferences. The already programmed Overdrive makes borrowing books from your library a breeze and it is easy to set up. The Kobo Clara in my opinion is the best e-reader for the money! I would not consider any other e- readers for the features it offers in such a compact package.
Nowhere in the Walmart website description did it say the e reader was used. But on the box next to the barcode it said “used-like new “ I sent it back
Like that it's small and light weight but I need to magnify to read , miss my nook color as I read every night before bed , almost not as easy to load free books
I just gave the Kobo to my daughter who is an avid reader for Xmas. She is looking forward to checking out digital books from the library. She is just starting to set it up, but hasn't used it yet for reading. I'll come back to update this review, but out of the box I'm knocking off a star because the e-reader in sleep mode shows the Walmart Rakuten logo. It's not like I got the Kobo for free or anything. If there's a way to eliminate the logo in settings or something I'd like to know.
instructions to set up and start are horrible. Touch / tap i s much to sensitive. and screen seems to reduce in size with each new one. Is not what it was advertised to do.
