This is the second post of this kind I've bought as I know it's a good, sturdy one. My last one lasted about 3-4 years and the cats love it. They can stretch nice and tall, and it never falls over. The sisal rope wears out in time, but of course that's normal with the constant scratching. Great post for the price.
Just picked up a few days ago and so far I am liking the product. The post was one piece out of the box so it was put out right away. Within a day , my cats were making use of it. They are able to stand up and stretch while giving a good scratch. If anything I could say negative, it is a little lightweight and during a good scratch my cats do move it around. ( This may be a simple fix by placing a non-slip material underneath. )
I just purchased my second post. I've had cats for many years, and this is the best one I have found so far. Besides the price being so reasonable, its height and combo sisal/carpet make this post very appealing. I just adopted a new cat, who spent much of her time as a stray. She loved to scratch my furniture, my draperies, just about anything, before I could get this post - I ordered online and picked it up in the store (free shipping.) The first day I placed it in my home, she found it and immediately began to use it. I've purchased my second one for a different part of the house. She uses both frequently.
Came very quick. My Tala Kitty flew from California to Virginia and has to stay indoors. Very hard for her but this scratch-er has been her best friend. Thank you for a great well made product.
This is a great option if you have a long legged cat like mine. Soren can jump the fridge with no problems so a tall scratching post was a must. I like the siscol rope since carpet alone would be trashed in a matter of weeks. This post should last well over a year. I looked every where for a post just like this & the prices were unreal! I never thought to look at Walmart.com. Glad I did.
The scratch post I bought was good quality , my cat likes the height so she can stretch the whole way to the top. The service was wonderful received it in two days
Cat scratched the bottom right away--still hasn't attempted the top. I rated the value as fair because I just don't think anything of this material should be so expensive, however, it does do its job.
The plastic top doesn't bother me (or my cat, it seems). It is very tall for a cat scratch post. Have only had it for a week but looks sturdy enough. I think a wider base (if the price can be kept the same) would make this product just purrrrfect
The product shipped was actually blue rather than tan. The top of the scratching post, again different from the photograph, was not carpeted except at the edges, and was a simple plastic cap, which cat finds uninviting. (On previous scratching post, which did look like the one pictured, he would like to climb and perch on the top)
I bought this to replace an existing scratching post. The previous post was made from a wooden base and a 4" x 4" post (two 2 x 4's nailed together). My cat eventually ripped the sisal rope in two. The new post is made from cardboard tubing with plastic caps in the ends. My cat puts a lot of force into his scratching. I felt he would break the post off fairly quickly. The rope doesn't go up high enough. The part of the post he likes to grab into is covered by the carpet. This post didn't seem to interest him since the rope didn't go high enough. I returned the post because it seemed weak. This post might be ok for kittens and small cats or cats that are less forceful than mine when scratching.
