I actually use two of these on my hot water heater. I use a custom length of red colored hot water hose to connect the cold inlet to the supply and the hot outlet to the outgoing hot water pipe. Both hoses need to make a 45 degree turn. Instead of twisting the hose I use two of these 45 degree adapters. I first did this over 8 years ago with no leaks or issues. Since rubber hose will deteriorate over time I replaced both hoses and used two new adapters. No leaks as before. Easy assembly. I would recommend a rubber compatible waterproof grease on the rubber seals and all threads. This can be purchased at most hardware and Big Box stores. And just to say, I have a pressure regulator installed on the cold water supply. Its set at 40 psi. I don't want to stress the hose.

This product is solid brass with "ears" on the nut which allow easy connection onto a hose spigot. I used two (2) of these elbows on washing machine connections to eliminate the 90 degree bend off the wall. Hopefully, the more graceful bend will make the hoses last longer. My only dissatisfaction with the product is that the nut does not support the inside of the hose washer, which could allow the rubber washer to collapse causing a leak. This feature makes the difference between a "good" product and a "GREAT" product. Other than that, the product seems to make an adequate connection.
I purchased 2 of these elbows. One worked fine but the other one broke immediately when trying to put on the spicket. By the time I would pay return shipping it would be more than the item cost. Not useable.
