I absolutely love my new Brother CE8100, the instruction manual was very detailed & I was up and running in less than 20 mins! Also came with a nice DVD that also explained things really well, as well as tons of accessories! My sewing has improved greatly since purchasing this machine, mainly because I don't want to stop sewing!
This was my first sewing machine purchase. I bought this because the price was sooo reasonable. It also had the most features. I bought it to quilt. Having never quilted (or sewn for that matter) before, i wasn't sure what to expect. I remember sewing machines from high school (30 yrs ago) & was apprehensive but this machine is so easy to thread & operate. With so many features & accessories! I love the dvd instructions, AWESOME! I am teaching myself quilting & love it. I can even free motion quilt a 65 x 65 quilt on it no problem. For the price its by far the best machine for the money! You wont be sorry you bought this machine.
I love this machine. This is the second brother I have bought. The first one didn't have as many capabilities but I loved it to . So I gave it to my sister who loves it and was thrilled . Then I went and bought the 8100 and I have made two quilts on it and never had a problem love love love this machine probably will upgrade again in the future.
I love all the great features on this machine, especially the automatic needle threader and the push button and speed control slider that replaces the foot pedal. (A foot pedal is included, but I haven't used it, even though my foot still looks for it when I want to start sewing) :) The needle threader allows for quick and easy change of colors for my quiet book appliques. And the push button and speed slider allows me to spend many more hours at my craft in comfort. I'm enjoying playing with the huge number of stitch options and have even sewn button holes for the first time. I consider myself a novice bordering on intermediately skilled sewer so I have a lot more to learn and am confident that this machine will meet my needs for many years.
My husband purchased the machine as a holiday gift. I love it! So nice that it came with an instructional video as well as the Manual. The Manual is written simply and easy to understand, including easy to follow graphics. The machine is so quiet and runs so smoothly. I love the super simple drop in bobbin. So easy. The auto needle threading process takes a little getting use to, but gets easier each time I use it. The specialty stitches are great! I love how many button hole options there are. Also love the generous work surface. My only con is I dont think the work light is bright enough and doesn't cover as much of the work surface as I would like.
If you don't need a sewing machine that does those tiny letters, and you want that works with all types of fabric this is it. Light weight with a nice collection of feet, especially craft feet this sewing machine does it all. It doesn't have a font or numbers but it has a great selection of stitches. The extension table is great for large projects. The fabric is good also. It's also a good looking machine. I would definitely recommend this machine for beginners and experts.
I purchased this machine in the store and was able to get it at a discounted price because it was on sale at Walmart.com (always check online prices). I have a sewing machine that cost me 10x the price of this Brother, and I have to say that the CE8100 is very comparable to the more expensive machine. It has all the bells and whistles one would need to create great pieces. It is extremely lightweight (the main reason I purchased it was for travel) and easy to carry. The extension table is a big bonus!
This sewing machine works beautifully, especially for the price. I could not be happier. Threading the machine is super easy and I don't have to fight with machine to get a perfect stitch. I do a lot of quilting and it feeds the fabric through fairly even. The only thing that I had a problem with, is I can't find a walking foot that goes with this machine and when I read sewing silky fabric I was having trouble getting it to feed evenly and a walking foot would have fixed that problem.
This machine replaced a thirty year old Singer that I finally wore out. My first computer sewing machine. This will be the last one I buy. Completely delighted.
I have already sewed 3 quilts with it, made the whole quilts, and, matching pillow shams, I am having so much fun with it, it helps me relax
