This is my first computerized sewing machine and also my first experience with the Brother brand and I am satisfied. This machine comes with a variety of stitches which have made my projects fun and creative. I liked the fact that it came with a dvd to assist buyers with all the unique features of this machine. I gave a rating of four stars only because I thought the attachable wide table was a little flimsy on the back side of the machine, but maybe I will have to play around with the leg screws and my table surface for a better adjustment. I would recommend this sewing machine.
I have not sewn in years and after struggling with my moms old Singer I decided to get a small machine to do every day repairs and a few small sewing projects. This machine is great. The accessories make it really easy to make sure you have the correct foot on the machine and the bobbin feature is outstanding. It doesn't get "caught" and threading is a breeze. The only reason I'm not giving it 5 stars is that it is a little light weight. Now having said that, it would be perfect to take along to sewing classes and vacations. However, I had to get a slip proof mat to put under it on the work table. If you have a teen or tween that wants to start sewing get her/him this machine. You won't regret it. Now, off to research my next Brother machine...
I received this machine as a gift about a year ago and it didn't take long for it to start acting up. No matter what I do, the tension is off. The stitches are loose loops and when I sew a zigzag stitch, the top thread is pulled almost completely straight. I've tried taking it apart completely and cleaning it, oiling it, changing my needle, winding a brand new bobbin, but nothing has fixed it.
