The Brinks steel locking bolts are a great thing to have and keep spares of. When I hear “Brinks”, I automatically know their products are going to be awesome. Their brand is a highly trusted brand. I have found that these bolts work great for anything that you would like to keep safe. I even use one of these locks at the gym. I really like using a key, instead of memorizing numbers. I have forgot my numbered code before, and someone had to cut my lock off for me to get my belongings out of my gym locker. Anyhow, having to carry a key around with me, is just much easier – just do not lose the key. This specific package of steel locking bolts comes in a pack of four, with four keys as well. The nice thing is all the locks do use the same key. So, if you do in fact lose one of the keys, you do have three more backups. These locks are cut resistant up to 2,400 pounds, which makes me certain no one is breaking into or cutting off any locks. My valuables are safe! Another excellent safety feature is the four pins that are inside of the locks as well as the pry resistance of 1,000 pounds. With four pins, picking the locks are nearly impossible. I do not think anyone will mess with these locks! I would highly recommend the Brinks steel locking bolts.
This lock is good quality and seems very tough. It is fairly heavy for it's size. It's 40 mm, which is around an inch and a half, with a laminated steel body. It's supposed to be cut resistant up to 2,400 pounds. Also, pry resistant for up to 1,000 pounds. It also says it's pick resistant. I don't know much about picking a lock, so it doesn't really make much sense to me, but it says it has 4 pins. Sounds like that's a good thing to stop thieves who might have lock picking skills. It comes with 2 keys, which is nice as a back up. The keys are around a normal size for locks, so a little smaller than a typical house key. We'll be using this lock for our shed since the old one has started to be very difficult to lock after opening. Another good use would be to take it to the gym or a community center to use on a locker. I think this lock will be very good. Should hold up for a very long time. If for some reason it doesn't, it does come with a lifetime warranty. Anyway, I'm looking forward to using this and think it will be a big improvement for our shed.
I got this Brinks 4 lock set because it was 4 locks that were all keyed the same. I have looked on the shelf at the store for another set with the same key numbers but they were all different. I got these to use on a couple of yard gates and a yard tool storage to keep unwanted scavengers out. The 4 locks being keyed the same means I only need one key on each keyring. The locks seem to provide adequate security while remaining economical to acquire. I'm sure these padlocks will work fine at keeping uninvited guests out of the yard and storage building. I also use one lock to secure my trailer ramps in my truck when it is unatended.
The first words that came to my mind when I received these Brinks Laminated Steel Padlock are sturdy and heavy. I accidentally ordered thinking they were smaller and I could use them for my suitcases for traveling, but I was pleasantly surprised that they are bigger and very strong and I still can use them to secure some stuff in the garden. Something that I liked is that it is a set of 4 and they have a good quality.
In short, this seems to be a perfectly apt-for-the-task lock. But let's start with what I wanted it for. Not really security, at least not in the sense you're thinking. I'm using it for a plastic shed, so security is kind of bogus since anyone with even a modest amount of effort could simply destroy the shed or bash off the latch with a hammer. But! A simple lock like this is more than sufficient for keeping kids out of the shed, my own as well as any curious or mildly nefarious kids that think they're going to rifle through everything. For this, it works beautifully. No kid is going to challenge a lock, in their mind, locks are the end all be all for security. But how secure is this lock really? Sure it's hardened steel and claims 2,400 lbs of cut resistance, even shows a bolt cutter in the graphic which is rather odd, as a bolt cutter will absolutely exceed 2,400 lbs of force and successfully cut the lock. Also has a graphic for 4 pin pick resistance, again...this is silly. Anyone with any level other than “I started today” of lockpicking skills will have this open with a tension bar and a pick. So, does that mean I don't like the lock? Absolutely not. I love it! It's perfect for what I need it for. A simple deterrence to opportunists. Let's face it, no matter what lock you use on a shed etc, if someone wants in bad enough, they're going to accomplish it. A simple lock like this all you're hoping for is it's enough of a deterrence that if they did want to break in, it'd slow them down enough that someone might notice them breaking into it. The old phrase is correct, locks only stop honest people. But as far as keeping your kids out of your stuff? It's perfect. The key release is nice and smooth, the shackle is also nice and easy, pops right open when you turn the key. Key fits great as well, I've noticed that can be an issue on some cheaper brands. So yes, if your intention is to keep kids or animals out of a shed or what have you, then absolutely consider this lock. Fully recommended for this purpose.
At one time or another we all need pad locks. Making sure I buy quality padlocks mean I’m securing my property with confidence. Brinks 40mm laminated steel padlocks are my first choice. I know I need more than one lock so I really like that I can buy them in packs of four. These padlocks are tuff! I use them to lock my fire proof box, cupboards and my shed. I can even use them to secure my luggage. I keep extras in case my family needs quick security.

I have tried numerous brands of pad locks and you can't go wrong with Brinks. We lost the key to our Brinks lock and my hubby took cutters tried cutting lock, did not work. Took grinder tried to cut lock did not work, he ended up having to take the mounting plates completely off. These are some kind of tough pad locks!!! Again can't go wrong with Brinks!!
I needed a lock for my gun cabinet to deter young visitors to my house from any mischief. These visitors include teenagers who can get quite creative at getting into things. I chose this Brink's lock because like the previous ones I purchased everything is always secured which gives me peace of mind. You can't go wrong!
I've got to be honest with you the only thing that didn't feel like that it was completely cheaply made was the spring mechanism when the key is turned. The rest of it in my opinion is very cheap. In fact the blue plastic that wraps around the bottom of the lock that says brinks on it can be peeled off very very easily. It's also very very loose lock you can wiggle it around make it rattle etc however I will say for what the application I am using it on they will do the trip no big deal. Just not my first choice when I go out to buy a lock...
