I have not opened and closed this lock too many times as I've been using it to lock our lake shed but it works smoothly every time I've used it. It feels heavier than other locks of its size. It has only three numbers to dial and it can be reset if I wish,. It feels quite durable and seems to lock securely.
So, I needed a replacement lock for our privacy fence gate as the old lock was in poor condition. The disks wouldn't turn well and in my opinion , it was a cheap lock the previous owners and thrown on there. Over the years , my family has trusted Brinks products to use in our home…. This lock is a very very good quality heavy duty brass lock. It has only 3 dials so it's much easier to recall your secret combination and I have to add, the combination dial wheels turn so o easy and smoothly… that's a plus with old fingers. Lastly , it's weather resistant … made of brass… it can stand up to the elements as well as the text of time. I highly recommend this lock if you are looking to buy a resettable heavy duty combination lock.
The Brinks Brass Resetable Combination Lock is a quality padlock with a solid brass body and polished steel shackle. The solid brass body and polished steel not only makes this padlock strong, sturdy and secure, it is also what makes this lock weather resistant. Weather Restitance makes this Brinks combination lock a great outdoor lock for securing storage sheds or locking down valuables with a chain or cable. Brinks has been a trusted name in security since 1895 and this resettable combo lock shows it in quality and ease of use. Resetting the combination is easy and the instructions on the back of the packaging takes you through it step by step. The numbers on the lock are easy to read and easy to line up on the blue line. I reset my combo and it was very easy and resetting the combo doesn't require a special "pin or "key" as some other resettable locks do. It also opens and closes very smoothly I actually expected to hear a loud click when I locked it but it was smooth and quiet. Since it is weather resistant I am using it to lock my gate.
The down and dirty details on this combo lock are (1) it's a light duty lock not meant to stop someone from stealing but to deter them from stealing. Probably best used for locking indoor items, like a gun vault, jewelry/money case, school locker, gym locker, and similar items. (2) I'm impressed with the smoothness in the dials. They do not get hung up on the rotating number...very nice. Maybe this feature alone is worth the price of the lock. (3) Extremely easy to change the combination. (4) I think this lock is a showpiece. Solid brass and nice Brinks engraving. This one of the few times I do not mind having the manufacturer/sponsor name prominently displayed on the product. Assuming it can stand up to moderate smack with a hammer or something, I'll gladly recommend it. However, its a small lock and I know how desperate some fold are so I will be very conscious of where I will use it.
This Brink's combination lock is very hefty and so easy to set your own combination. Can also be reset just as easily anytime you choose. Great bike or locker lock. It is also easier to read than those locks with a dial when the painted numbers eventually wear off.
I love this little lock. It was very easy to set the new combination and the body of the lock is very sturdy. I have held locks in my hand before that felt like if I squeeze it hard enough I could probably break it. Not this lock. I feel like this lock is sturdy enough to protect my items as long as the container I attach it to is substantial enough to offer protection also. I really like the locking mechanism also. It does not rely on a catch on the front part of the lock hasp. By securing the hasp at the back portion even if the front part were broken or the body of the lock shot or something like that the lock should still refuse to open because the shaft will not extend without the proper code. I think this design is far superior to the normal you might see on the competitor's locks.
This Brink's Brass 3-digit Resettable Combination Padlock is perfect for all-purpose use. It is weather proof so it is perfect for my shed (so now I can take my rusted one off). I like the combination, as I seem to always misplace the shed key over the winter months. I like the way you can set your own combination so you can program it to a number that is familiar to you. The description states that it is lightweight (which it kind of is), but you can feel the weight of the brass to know that the lock is built for the best security. The shackle of the lock is made of steel which is noted to be a great cut resistance material. Another great feature of this combination lock is that it can be reset to another code if you chose to change it. I am very satisfied with this Brinks lock.
Received this Brinks 3 dial resettable lock as a member of the Spark Reviewer Program. Slim lock that is actually attractive and is nice and heavy. Will be used by my collegiate Son to secure his bicycle on campus. As for the durability cannot yet say as he has not returned to campus yet.
This padlock means business! It's larger and heavier than I expected, weighing in at almost 7 ounces. In the attached picture, I'm holding the lock in my hand to show the size of it. The combination dials operate smoothly, and the numbers are easy to read. This lock is more than sturdy enough to safeguard valuables in the locker room at the gym.
The Brink's 40 mm brass dial resettable padlock is a great lock to have! I currently am using it on my storage shed door, and I have started to feel so much more secure with trusting my valuables in a foreign place. The resettable dial is easy to use, you just open the lock, turn it 180° while pushing it in, then select your new combo. Also, this lock is brass so it can withstand pretty much any type of weather! Solid and great quality!
