Great capability, but need a smaller version of my new GXT1000VP4 radios. I will keep what I bought. I will contact Midland to see if there is smaller alternative to my new PPT radios.
The ordering process was straight forward and easy. Radio received at the time predicted and I was informed by email at each step. The radios arrived in working order, no problems. I've used midland radios for years. They are easy to set up. They always work "out of the box". Never any issues with quality. All in all, good product and fair price
This is a great FRS/GMRS radio. All FRS and GMRS channels. 5 watts of power. Lasts all day on a single charge. I own two sets. I very well may buy more. Cons Does not support GMRS repeater channels There are only 22 channels (unique frequencies) in the FRS/GMRS service. Channels 23 - 50 on Midland devices use the 22 channels and add a security code. This isn't really a problem but it is not a significant benefit either.
Great radio with impressive features. I have used the handhelds for numerous reason and they are always ready to work.
I bought Midland because I used their CBS years ago; never had any problems. These were purchased for camping, hiking, biking in remote areas. I trust the quality and dependability.
Excellent walkie talkies, I have tested around 500 mts- 1640 Ft between cars and sounded great. The Vox option it´s great because you can use it just talking, you need to start with a short word, like "one" in order to Vox get activated and start talking in order not to cut your message. Vox function is great because you can get "fingerpain" as my kid said if you use a lot the PTT button. I haven´t tested how far it can work but it sattisfied my necessities. Included rechargeable battery is just ok, ( NiMH 6 V 700ma), if you want a better lasting, you can use 4 spare AA rechargeable batteries.
I've been using this radio for about 3 weeks now at work instead of the company provided one, the Midland radio is so reliable, and people in other departments can contact me and I can contact them. I am trying hard to get this radio to be our go to radio, it is absolutely comfortable as well. The belt clip actually clips to the belt and when you bend over and pick something up off the floor it doesn't "slip" off. The only thing I would like a little different is the ear piece, it is hard to wear with hardhat/earmuffs, I'm worried that overtime the mic wires might break because of the earmuff, it seems too stiff. Very minor though. I'm thrilled that I bought these.
Great radios so far, good clarity. It would be nice if the instructions were as clear as the sound. Someone with a lot of GMRS radio experience would probably understand them better, but some radio lingo knowledge seems to be presumed when reading the microscopic print. But all-around great little radios, once I learn how to use all the features.
A good complete package except the box says "Instruction manual included". In fact there is no manual but you can download one on the Midland website. You probably will be heading over there right after opening the box and charging the 2 radios up as they are quite complicated at first. The radios look and feel durable and are rated as waterproof. The set comes complete with rechargable batteries, charging station, 110v and 12v chargers and 2 headsets for hands free use. Once you figgure out how to set the radios to VOX then using either the built in mike or the supplied headset then hands free talking should be easy. We wanted this feature for backing up our RV and the VOX works well but the supplied headsets are about useless as the mike needs to be right in front of your mouth and they just won't stay there as the ear piece is too floppy. You can hold the mike by your mouth but then you can't steer the Rv or give hand signals to the driver.
These radios have every feature I could possibly want and more. I'm surprised that they were so affordable and included so many useful accessories. My only complaint is their advertised range. Even at full charges, they barely connected at twenty miles. Thankfully I don't really need them any further than that.
