EXCELLENT BREAKFAST CEREAL! COOKS IN 2/12 MINUTES. I PREPARE IT WITH WATER/MILK AND BUTTER, WARM IT TO A QUICK REDUCED HEAT BOIL. I NEVER MEASURE I ADD THE AMOUNT I WANT AND IT IS DONE IN 2 1/2 MINUTES. ABSOLUTELY YUMMY. I LIKE TO ADD A PACKET OF MAPLE INSTANT CEREAL WHICH IS ALREADY SWEETENED WITH BROWN SUGAR. SO I COOK THE REGULAR CREAM OF WHEAT FOR 1 1/2 MINUTES THEN ADD THE INSTANT PACKET FOR THE LAST MINUTE, STIRRING CONSTANTLY. YOU CAN ALWAYS ADD MORE MILK FOR CREAMIER AND MORE LIQUIDY FLAVOR. I ABSOLUTELY LOVE THIS WITH A TOAST OF ENGLISH MUFFINS/WHITE AND OR WHEAT BREAD. A PERFECT BREAKFAST MEAL.
The best hot cereal on the market. 2 cups of milk brought to just before boiling, a Table spoon of butter, a dash of salt & 1/3 cup of cream of wheat makes 1 adult serving when simmered while stirring with a whisk to desired consistancy makes an excellant breakfast.
IT BRINGS BACK MEMORIES AS A CHILD. MY MOTHER WOULD MAKE IT WITH A SMALL AMOUNT OF BUTTER, CINNOMON AND MILK. It is just as good as I remembered. I love it. It is so creamy. If you like oatmeal, you will love it. The price is great. The grocery store near me wanted double the amount.
This will take you right back to the good old days. It's so simple yet so good. It's easy to make too. You can even make it in your microwave! In trying times, it's good to have non-perishable food choices in your pantry. It has a very mild flavor. You can add whatever you'd like to spice up it's flavor. Just sprinkle some sugar on top or go crazy with maple syrup, brown sugar and cinnamon, molasses, anything you want! A must have for every pantry.
They make instant packets of this product which, at least to us, were inedible. Take the time to cook this on the stove. We added salt, butter and brown sugar and it tasted exactly like I had it 20 years ago. Please don't stop making this product! It might seem expensive, but 3 tablespoons of this plus water or milk is all it takes to make a breakfast for 1-2 people.
So delicious! I much prefer this to the quicker version ( 2.5 minutes vs 1 minute) as it just tastes better. I do use water initially but then after 45 seconds I add milk and stir. I cook for a few additional minutes adding a small amount of low fat milk as I go. I doubt most folks will need to do this, but I do think it makes it more creamy, which I prefer. I often forget to add the salt and butter ( smart balance) and honestly notice nothing different. Once in a bowl, I do add a tsp. of Splenda and cinnamon. Admittedly I still enjoy steel cut oatmeal on occasion but prefer this ten to one. Note: 99% of the low reviews are regarding the shipping which isn't fair to the products at all! And WHY do people ask for refunds in a review section? Lol.
Heavy plastic items in the same box not properly packed. Cream of wheat in the same box with heavy peanut butter jars and jelly jars, one of which broke open in shipping, being plastic, spilling the jelly all over the box. I washed off the cream of wheat boxes and was able to salvage most of it. We threw out the open jar and washed the other two off, along with the peanut butter jars.
It came spoiled with oil of some sort soaked into the box

Something was BADLY WRONG with the last box. It's salty and tasted like rotted fish. OMG. I'd been eating cream of wheat for years. It had been my everyday breakfast and now I am afraid to take another bite. IWHAT IS IN MY CREAM OF WHEAT? Is there some place where I can take it in to have it tested? DOES ANYONE HAVE THE SAME EXPERIENCE?
