I have four of the Battery chargers/Maintainers l keep them on my motorcycle and Rv and Truck and tractor all winter long the batteries are always up never Had any problems with any of them l have three boat batteries Fastened together all three stays up
For the price this unit delivers. Both in 6 volts and 12 volts. It comes with multiple battery attachments which most of the other units out there do not. I used the permanent attachment on my garaged vehicle which rarely sees the road, and then I have the other two attachments remaining which I can use to 'spot' charge my other vehicle/lawn mower/generator batteries to keep them topped up and in their prime. I purchased this B&D Battery Maintainer due to a dead battery found on my garaged vehicle from less than 2 years new!!! The result of not much vehicle road use and a slow discharge brought the battery down so low it could not recover. Now I can spot charge it and keep it in prime condition and avoid another $120 plus battery purchase. I also have the advantage of using it with the other supplied attachments on my lawn mower, portable generator and other vehicles batteries. A great value.
There are battery maintainers that go for around $100 or more. So I was skeptical about this one only being $20, but gave it a shot anyway. First thing I notice is the plug accessories which are very cool. The device is simple to use and the most important thing is that it works. Hooked it up to my old jeep (battery was dead) it took about 2 weeks but charged the battery and keeps it charged. So I hooked one up to my boat battery and it was fully charged in 2 days. Will probably get a 3rd for my atv. These things are great and cheap.
I've had the Black and Decker Battery Maintainer running for about a week now and I am, so far, very satisfied with the product. I use three other versions of maintainers, all of which work but are considerably more expensive, to maintain the batteries on my ATV's, motorcycle, boat and RV and so far this maintainer works as well as the others. It offers three connection modes, battery terminal clamps, cigarette lighter plug and hard wire directly to the terminals. I prefer to hard wire directly to the terminals and the quick connect plug makes it a lot easier to disconnect when I am ready to play and reconnect when I'm done. Just remember this is not a battery charger! It will keep a fully charged battery functional and up to capacity but will probably not recharge a low or dead battery.
I used it under the hood with just the alligator clamps. It maintained the charge just fine. I bought 2 of these because I have two batteries to maintain like the riding tractor that sits idle over the winter. You can use the cigarette lighter in cars and even connect it directly to the battery terminal without the alligator clamps. It certainly beats the other higher price units.
This is a very nice trickle charger. This is third one that I have purchased. I use them on my Wave Runners and Motorcycle to keep the battery in good shape. Before I had these trickle chargers I used to have to replace my Wave runner batteries every season but now they last several years. I would recommend this trickle charger to anyone that is tired of replacing batteries prematurely
Just had it a few days. Easy to set up. Keeping the battery at its maximum voltage. My battery drained during the Coronavirus quarantine. It was at 2.5 volts (12 volt car battery) The trickle charger manual said it won't at less than 2 Volts. It didn't charge mine at 2.5 volts. So I got a jump and let it idle for an hour and got the voltage up to 12 volts, put on the trickle charger and it started working just fine. It was at max charge the next day.
I like the many attachments which make it easy to attach to my generator battery as a way to insure quick starts. Idiot lights show if battery is fully charged or is charging, or if battery is bad or connection is wrong. Good product. My Champion generator battery can only take 1.5 amps so this is pefect.
Had this for a short period of time... The bottom of the case is already melting from the extreme heat inside. This could be a fire hazard... Will return
Item was not new. Definitely uswd and would not charge my battery. The product in new condition may have worked better
