I've only had the unit for 2 weeks now but I am impressed with this unit compared to my old radar detector Much less false alarms, camera video's seem to be very good. I had a little trouble setting up the apps, but they seem to be working now.
It is perfect for traveling, as I have radar & Dashcam for the rental cars and only one unit to worry about.
So far we have traveled a lot, this cobra road scout does a perfect job detecting any kind of radar out there, instead of slowing down on and off I can cruise making it to all our appointments on time , I would and have recommend this to anyone spending a lot of time on the road
The radar is awesome the ergonomic are very nice I purchased it for my Shelbygt350 and all so for the dash cam feature the quality of the item is amazing and also because it has a cobra logo on it and matches my cars logo overall looks great and love it
Instructions could be better for a unit with both a camera and radar.
So here we go. Part 1. The radar detector part once registered works well with the app interface. It's quite compared to my uniden. You can't update the database red light camera locations etc until registered and micro sc card formated and wifi synced Through iradar app. Good luck getting the time set accurately on the first through fourth time. Part 2. The camera is okay picture quality wise. I have better and worse dash cameras. To sync the camera to the the driveHD app use the instructions on the Bilt app (the third app required) once this is done you can see and access the recorded clips. Part 3. To save a mp4 to your phone to edit or screen shot you have to download it from the RS to the app, now share it to Google photos cloud, now download load it to your phone. ( truck drivers your eld should be looking pretty easy at this point) Part 4. Don't under any circumstances take out the micro SD card and access the files on a laptop or computer or the card will be deemed useless And will need to be replaced. A side note, the radar database updates are kept on the camera micro SD card. So the card is for the dash camera and radar unit. So to summarize, it works as advertised with adequate difficulty. BTW tech support is better than most on the phone.
I have an iRadar from Cobra and the subscription ran out and was suggested on the app to purchase a new radar detector and the subsciption will renew. I opted for the Road Scout but as I got it and placed it side by side with the old one. I think they perform the same with the Scout being newer. But the worst thing is the app… it does not connect to the Road Scout and has been a problem, the 30 day is coming up and I cannot return it anymore.
I have owned this for well over a year and never once looked at any of the video clips. They either don't record at all or they can't be played back. The whole set up is terrible. I am really upset with this product because it is a smart idea to combine both radar and camera but if both are sub par then whats the point. Im writing this in frustration as I am watching a video stutter and shake because it cant be played back. AND HOW DO YOU DOWNLOAD THESE CLIPS? It's the worst product I have bought in the last 10 years. And I'm including everything I have purchased from groceries to sneakers to televisions. This is the worst thing I have spent my money on.
I had high hopes for this item. Unfortunately it was a huge disappointment. It had multiple issues with connectivity for both the radar detector and dash cam portions. Each has it's own app and different methods of connection, one using wifi and the other bluetooth. It also would not recognize the iRadar Plus subscription. After four hours of trying to get it to work, I returned it (and had to pay the return shipping).
I have had it for a week and can’t use it. Since their app has been down for over 2 weeks. Seems they would warn someone about this when they order, or at least when they ship it. It took me several days to call them and get answers to what is going on. They are offering me to ship it back, instead of extending the warranty, another 30 days later now they get their app back up and running.
