My skin: oily, very sensitive, breakout prone. I've been using the Invisible Matte over City Block Sheer SPF 25 for the past few days. Before, I was just using the City Block but needed a little extra coverage for my pores, and I also wanted something that would reduce the shine on my face throughout the day. Stay Matte Sheer Powder has worked great thus far. My face appears smoother and fresher, I am way less shiny (not 100% but a GREAT deal less than I would be without the powder), my pores practically disappear, and it hasn't irritated my skin in any way so far. I'm glad I gave this stuff a try! I intend to purchase it again in the future.
Every afternoon, I start to get the oily shine on my face on my forehead, nose, chin, and cheeks. I thought I was forever destined to blotting my face with a kleenex (those face oil sheets are too small!), until I discovered this with the help of a Clinique salesperson at a department store. She recommended the Invisible Matte. Wow! This REALLY works. And I only need it once a day - a few swipes over the shiny spots does the trick. Only bummer is that my colored Pore Refining Solutions makeup gets on the sponge, so I wash that at least weekly. Other than that, I don't have an oily afternoon face, and I can see this lasting me at least 6 months!
This is the best oil controlling powder I have used. Sometimes I use over moisturizer and sometimes I use over foundation and it keeps my face matte for few hours and the good thing is I only need a small amount of product. So far, I liked this matte powder.
Finding the right powder has always been a challenge, as the color is usually too orange or too white, and just doesn't look natural atop whatever foundation I'm wearing. I use the 01 Stay Buff atop the Even Better Foundation in 14 Cream Whip and it's perfect for someone with olive skin on the paler side. I don't use a powder on my entire face, just on oily spots like my nose and the middle of my forehead. I apply this powder once or twice per day on my nose, which is sufficient to reduce shine completely. Applying powder twice per day is pretty minimal in my book! If you have dry skin then of course this powder like most will exacerbate dryness, but if you have oily skin in some spots this will matte-ify your skin without looking cakey, or too powdery. I apply this very very minimally. A little goes a long way.
I discovered this a couple of years ago and have not purchased anything else since. It is nice on days that you don't want to look over done, I just use it over my lotion rather than over foundation on these days, it gives me a fresh look without looking like I did anything. When I add it over my foundation it keeps everything in place and makes my makeup last longer without looking cakey or discolored. Even if you get a tan or you are white faced from the winter months it blends and color matches prefect. All around a great product.
Since Clinique has changed the packaging (I.e. the outside case) of this powder, it has become much more likely to break. I had a compact that broke to pieces which resulted in me having to buy another one. Within one day of using it, it started breaking. It has not been dropped. My daughter uses this same powder and has the same problem. I love the product, but don't love having to buy one constantly because it breaks so easily. If something has changed with the formula, please consider changing it back.
I have been using the stay matte pressed powder for over 20 years and have never had a problem with the powder cracking and falling out in large chunks. However over the last several months it has happened twice I did drop the compacts but I have dropped compacts in the past without much damage (unless they were close to empty). The last compacts have been brand new and have fallen to pieces making them useless from the start. I feel they are defective and am hoping it is an isolated incident as I can not afford to keep replacing so quickly
I love this powder as far as coverage, but it breaks very easily. I've ordered it a couple times thinking maybe I dropped it unknowingly, but same results each time. I feel like it should have better longevity for the price. I've had to throw a lot of it away and it's broken all over my clothes as well. I will not be purchasing it again.
This is a light weight product. I found it wasn't enough coverage for me; however the product it self is smooth and easy to apply.
I've been using this pressed powder for YEARS and the last 2 compacts that I purchased crumbled within a couple of weeks and are a mess... and useless to travel with. I have old compacts that I keep in my pool bag that are years old and the edges are still in tact... not sure what has changes but I'm very disappointed. Hate to think of trying to find a new brand but after wasting money on 2 that have broken I don't see that I have a choice.
