These 5 screw flaps were just perfect for what I needed. They were easy to install and fit exactly. I installed two due to our wall configuration and now we have no drafts. Easy peasy!
I searched for a replacement flap for my pet door and found this one at Pet Safe. I matched the model number with the one in the online store, purchased it and crossed my fingers that it would fit. It came and I loosened the 5 screws and removed the old flap, lined up the new one and ***it fit perfectly***.
Perfect fit and since the pups chewed up the last flap, I reversed the doggie door unit where the plastic shield slides down on the outside. That way, on a good sunny day... they are kept outside. And actually be like a dog, rather than taking out there anger on the flap. Very pleased with this product.
We have had the door now for close to 5 years and just now needing to replace the flap. We have two medium dogs that go out all day long. It with stands they are in and out running playing bouncing in and out chasing each other. What an awesome door to withstand their plate full intentions.
I ordered the replacement flap and was discouraged that the screws were so little and it wasn't installing correctly. I installed it incorrect. After looking at reviews and reading the replies from the company I fixed the incorrect installation and it works fine. I am giving it a 4 because it does have a plastic mounting strip, nothing on a dog door should be plastic. It has several breaks where the screws go. I will be ordering a metal one and Im sure that will put my dog door back up to a 5! I also feel like a mounting strip should come with the new flap or be very suggested when ordering. I didnt know I needed on until replacing the flap
My dog and I enjoyed the original door/flap for 3 years. Then the sides started tearing. I ordered the replacement. It came quickly and wasn't too hard to install EXCEPT it's a little long and the directions said you could scoot it higher, but I can't figure out how.
This is a solid piece of plastic with magnet. The holes need reinforcement though. Thicker material in that area might help. Where it secures to the door unit should just be a hole. The slot provided actually just lets it slip down when my dogs go in and out. They aren't gentle but it should handle that.
Not happy with the replacement flap. I ordered the flap to replace an existing flap which had worn out after a year and half. The new flap once replaced began breaking up at the bottom almost immediately. Dry rot? Probably. Now I'll have to replace again.
Easy ordering, and fast shipping, but this replacement flap fails where it's really important. It does not exactly fit the frame, resulting in gaps at the bottom and blowing open if there is a breeze. Gap at the bottom is almost 1/8 inch on one side, and maybe 1/16 inch on the other. That lets in a lot of cold air in the winter. The magnet at the bottom, which is supposed to hold it closed, is not adequate, again resulting in a partially open door, and cold air blowing in.
The screws tear thru the holes. I had to add flat washers to all 5 screws. Also the plastic flap magnetic isn't strong enough and flaps open. Winter air blows in & summer heat same, far too much. Need to close it manually all the time.
