Keep away from the cheap knifes these are just a little more expensive but you get what you pay for. The knifes have straight through metal handles so no worry about the handle snapping off on you. They are nice and sharp and feel nice. The wood holding block is nicely made and feels well put together unlike cheap ones. Only draw back is a missing pair of scissors. I could have done with out 2 knifes in exchange for a good pair to be honest.
We ordered these for our Annual Company Pumpkin Carving Contest. The knives worked great! Great product for the money.
Very Sharp, appearance and blades. Only complaint no blade sharpener.
My sister loves the set and thinks I paid a fortune for them.
This is a great set a few blemishes on the handles after reciving it and the Main knife had a bad blade on it called up Chicago cutlery and they sent me a new knife right away no questions asked. so I know the company does stand by its warranty. definetly will buy more knives from this collection.
While this is a nice-looking set of knives and appear to be durable, I wasn't extremely impressed with the cutting abilities of the set. It took much more effort than it should have to cut a loaf of bread with the bread knife, and the same could be said for trimming a tenderloin steak prior to grilling. I found another Chicago-branded set at my local Wal-Mart that didn't have the serated edges that work MUCH better for my needs.
This knife set comes with a very nice block to store them in. The serrated edges are the only hindrance. I ended up spending an equal amount on one good chef knife. If you're not into cooking then it's a good set for average use.
It sure looks nice but don't be fooled! The knives were not sharp at all! I literally had to pound the top of the knife to cut an onion! After a wash in the dishwasher, there were rust stains on a few of the knives as well. I will never buy this brand again.
