I can't say enough about my brothers sewing machine. I didn't want to spend a lot of money but wanted quality and that is just what i got! i'm a once in a while quilter and need a hard worker. was surprised at the ease of threading the machine and bobbin. it's easy to use, a solid machine, so far it has responded to all my needs quite nicely. I love the machine and would recomend it to anyone. another thing, i searched all over the net and wal-mart had the best price. would purchase again.

The Best Sewing machine ever. Took some getting used to, it self threads. I was used to a manuel machine. Was trying to thread it myself. Ha Skip all that sillyness it does it for you!! Perfect for new Sewers like myself. It provides extra needles, bobbins, seam ripper and anything else you many need. Very Durable yet lightweight. It has 40 different stitches. The footsettings are very easy to change to accomadate your fav stitch. This machine has a brain, if the thread is tangled it gives you a code. Then look it up and it will tell you whats wrong. The only downfall is that the book refers to an upgraded model as well. So this can be confusing at first. Overall an outstanding Machine.

There comes a time in a young sewers life when she wants her first sewing machine. A machine she can call her own for the first time, rather then borrowing her mother's or whatever's around. For Christmas she asked for a simple sewing machine, no bells and whistles. What she got was a much more advanced model with everything she could've asked for and more. The best part about it was that it was so simple and easy to use. The manual was easy to comprehend but it wasn't really needed since it was so easy to use. Threading is a breeze and if anyone has any difficulty threading the eye, the automatic threader makes it a snap. Even operating it is simple, just select the stitch with the up and down buttons and it automatically sets up everything for you and tells you what foot you need for the job. If something isn't right, for most things the machine tells you. It's absolutely wonderful for sewers of all ages. My own mother is jealous and she surprised me with it for Christmas last year. I would recomend it for anyone who wants to sew no matter what the experience level or the age

I sew a great deal. The feeddog on my old machine is dying. My grandchildren were arriving for a sewing lesson, so I purchased this machine. With just a few minutes of instruction and supervision, they were able to use the machine. They could select the decorative stitch and width and control the fabric. I woke one morning to find them creating new purses with some of my "favorite" fabric. It was easy to thread machine. The fabric guide lines are a little difficult to see. I added color tape. The bobbin drops in and the plastic cover takes a little getting use to.

I would not recommend this sewing machine unless it is used for light sewing or mending. I have used it since February 2007 to sew curtains, make placemats, napkins, decorative accessories, some clothing. Nothing heavy. When I used a decorative stitch recently to make placemats for my grandaughter, it sewed two perfectly and on the third one the stitching went crazy and ruined the placemat. This happened twice. The attachment for buttonholes broke into tiny pieces and I could not put it back together. Upon a call to support They promised to send a new one. The machine comes with 3=4 plastic bobbins. I could not buy extra ones that would fit in a store such as Joann's Fabrics. You have to call Brothers or purchase extras on-line. The price is ok, 10 for $4.95. Otherwise it is a good machine.

I found it to be average overall.

This is an average machine, I do not recommend it for quilting. But it can do the every day job, like sewing pajamas, aprons, sun dresses. It is very easy to use. I recommend you take some scraps to see how well it will work for you before you start a project. It certainly will never replace the Kenmore I had for 25 years. But it will do what I expect right now and that is making simple things and nothing heavy in weight.

Had machine two days and the feed dog began to vibrate and rattle. The machine started to whine, and continued to get louder. Several features were annoying and hard to bypass. I may have gotten a lemon, but was not happy with performance of this machine. A sewer for over 50 years and had Brother machines before but do not like this particular model of Brother.

I have been sewing for 40 years, and have never had a machine as annoying as this one. The feed dog often lowers on its own, so the fabric doesn't feed into the machine. But the biggest problem is that for no apparent reason at all, the bobbin stitches go loopy in the middle of sewing. I have changed needles, tension, rethreaded, used the proper bobbin, but nothing helps. I have only had this machine for a few months, but I'm junking it. DO NOT BUY THIS MACHINE!!!
