Love the new remote! My old stock one that was the same type was having issues sending signals and the speaker barely worked. The new remote paired after a couple attempts and works great!
I bought this remote to replace the original remotes that came with my 5202. The original remotes' battery doors both broke and the buttons accidentally activated way too easily when i had my keys (and remote) in my pocket. This new design requires much more deliberate activation of the buttons and i haven't had one accidental activation yet. Battery door is much more robust.
This remote is a replacement for the remote that originally came with the Viper alarm. The original had a battery cover that was cheaply made and easily broken. This remote is designed differently. It has a stronger battery cover that opens on the front and the whole remote seems more well made. Programming was very easy with the included instructions. Sorry I waited so long to order.
I had a Viper 2-way remote starter installed in my F-150 when I purchased it new (2009). The unit came with a 2-way and a 1-way remote. Buttons had very little resistance and my truck would start when I had the remote in my pocket (just by lightly bumping the remote). Earlier this year, the back of the old 2-way remote kept falling off (a known defect). Viper sent me a new back, but it refused to stay in position as well, so I figured I just purchase a new one. Well, they don't make the old remote anymore (yippee ki-yay), and offer this as the replacement. This newer version has more tension in the buttons, so it is next to impossible to bump it and activate a button. The back is also better designed, and the unit as a whole is better constructed. Great range also--beeped my horn a quarter mile away while I was on my way out of the woods (turkey hunting) allowing me to fine tune my direction back to the truck. The place that installed my remote starter wanted $90 for this replacement, but it was half that price at Wal-Mart. Very happy camper now!
This is a great device... takes some patience to learn it to your vehicle but definitely worth it. There is no worries with losing the battery cover such as the original key fob.
Got the new remote on time. The instructions are very simple to follow, as soon as you find that the console button (in the car side ) is on the receiver part behind your rear-view mirror. By the 3rd time ( of following the instructions ) the remote got sync to the car, and works perfectly. Before I got this replacement, I went first to a different store, and been told, this is an old system, there are no replacement remote, you will need to install a new one ( >$400). Good that I don't believe to sales persons.
Walmart through a 3rd party carried this particular remote for my car when I couldn't find it in stock anywhere else great price for it also.
