I researched and researched about the best iron out there. However, the information available on irons is limited to say the least. I read customer reviews, and finally decided to jump in. I didn't want to spend $100 on a iron that got great reviews of half the people and horrible from the other, so I went by features offered, price, and weight. I finally decided on this iron, and I am glad that I did. It takes the wrinkles out so easily, and I don't have to use any additional items. The steam that the iron puts out is also great. So far I've had good luck with it, and it's made ironing ok, and not such a tedious task. I would reccomend this iron to anyone.
I am very happy with my new Shark iron. This iron has cut my ironing time in half.
I iron for four! I found that the iron worked fast and even some items I did not have to flip over and iron the other side! Must have improved the model since the the 1st rating in 2007??
This is one of the best non-industry irons I've ever used since leaving the garment industry. This one does everything it promised.
I use my iron every day, for a minimum of 1-2 hours. This has been part of my schedule for close to 30 years. As a result I have been through many many companies and their products. In fact, I usually buy 2 irons every other purchase, because I can't afford to be left without a working iron. This particular model and brand was recommended to me. Of course I purchased 2 before fully exploring. At this point, after having the appliance approximately 3-4 months, I must say I am not particularly delighted or even somewhat satisfied. For all the reasons listed in the previous reviews, especially the comments about the poor performance with the steam control. In addition, I am currently struggling to utilize the 'self-cleaning' feature. So far, no good--complications and inconvenience multiply the mess I was trying to clean up! Trust me, the job is already irritating, don't use a product which only adds to it!
Weight - too heavy and unevenly distributed weight - due to this iron kept falling off my ironing board; despite several levels of heat, only the top two take out wrinkles; followed directions using tap water (distilled wasn't necessary) and the interior had rusted making the steam transfer rust color to the clothing I had ironed. Had this less than a year. Irons from 20 years ago were better.
A friend experienced great luck with another Shark product so when I was in the market for a new iron, I chose Shark, even though it was one of the more expensive available. I have been very disappointed. I have experienced some of the spitting referenced by others and for some reason, I'll be ironing away, notice nothing is happening and realize the thing has shut itself off. I have to constantly turn back on--very aggravating! I purchased a cheap Sunbeam and plan to trash the Shark.
I was really impressed with this iron at first. Then about a month later I noticed it wasn't producing steam during the steam function. The top portion of the iron was starting to detach from the bottom part creating a gap. I'm assuming this is why the steam function stopped. I was really careful with this iron not to drop it because it was on the expensive side. Now I know that just because it's the most expensive iron on the shelf, it doesn't mean it's going to be durable. I ended up throwing this one away and buying a Black & Decker classic iron. What a waste of money.
This iron does not have any steam and can't take out wrinkle, took a long time to heat up. Do not buy this iron. I am planning to take it back.
I am so disappointed in this iron! It does not take out wrinkles on the highest steam setting and I have to have a spray water bottle everytime. Very frustrating for the money I paid. I miss my mom's old ugly iron. I also want to mention how HEAVY this thing is, I feel like a fiddler crab when I'm finished ironing.
