My grandson is 7years and autistic. He loves this and it is helping him learn. He responds well to electronic toys and likes this very much.
Purchased for my grandson turning 3. Great fun IT games with learning skills with variety of other optional games to purchase.
I really like the game keeps my twins (both have one) busy for the long car rides, in the store while they are in the basket & it's not just useless games. They are actually learning! My 4 yr olds are now recognizing more than the first 4 letters of the alphabet! The ONLY problem I have is that it kills batteries fast! If you are buying this make sure you buy a jumbo pack of batteries.
My son is 2. He received this gift a little earlier then the recommended age appropriate. He carries it everywhere. I bought a game for it but haven't opened it yet. He enjoys paying the prepended games that came installed already on it. The stylus should be attached with a cord because it is so easily lost.Have to change batteries every week.
My mother bought my two and three year old each one of these for Christmas. Within two weeks my two year olds quit reading the cartridges. (Dropped it I'm thinking) you can, however, still use it to play downloaded content. The mobis also really eat batteries. I changed them twice with alkaline batteries then decided to splurge and buy lithium. The mobi that still plays cartridges will constantly freeze up to the point you have to take a battery out to fix it. We have also had an issue in my house of getting pinched fingers from opening and closing the key pad. It IS a very fun game system for kids. My boys love playing them more than anything. I would recommend them to others but do not recommend getting them for clumsy/young children.
Right out of the box, this expensive piece of junk wouldn't turn on. I had to remove the batteries and reinstall them to turn it on. After turning the item off, I left the batteries in and the next day they were completely drained. Now I'm having trouble returning the item because the packaging is no longer original since my 4 year old great-granddaughter opened it. This is the second Vtech toy I have had to return. Never again will I purchase from a marketplace seller.
My 3 YO son had this for one month and now it has stopped working. He never dropped it. He used it when sitting down and now it just has a solid blue screen. He did enjoy using it but the fact that its defective or poorly made makes this a mistake to buy. He has had a Leappad for 2 years and it still works great.
