I got this for my pre schooler this year so she can always practice her shapes. She most certsbtly already knows them but this would help her practice and play at the same time. Feels sturdy and made of good material. Don't like how it needs batteries but hopefully they last a while. Shapes fit perfectly in space and none of them are getting stuck.
This toy is so cute! Chose the "Winnie the Pooh" Puzzle for my son, I did not know it also makes fun sounds when you place puzzle pieces in the correct spot! My 1 year old and 6 year old sons giggle and play at this, Thank you!
What a nice puzzle toy for the littles. This doug and Melissa disney winnie the pooh shapes and sounds puzzle is just the right size for children to learn their shapes. It has 8 different shapes and 8 different sounds as you complete the puzzle. Made of sturdy durable wood. Each puzzle piece has a peg perfect size for little fingers to grasp to help them learn eye to hand coordination. The puzzle says 2 and up but i believe younger children could benefit from this also. Each shape also has a different color and you could teach colors along with the shapes. Winnie the pooh characters adorn each shape also. Very cute. It takes 2 aaa batteries and does have a off and on switch so you dont have to worry about running the batteries down when not being played with. All in all i think this is colorful and very sturdy. It should hold up well thru more then 1 child. It would make a great gift or just a great toy to purchase just for fun and learning. I do recommend this toy. .
We got our six year old this Melissa & Doug Disney Winnie the Pooh Shapes Sound Puzzle to help her remember her shapes over the summer, since she just started learning them in kindergarten. We love that fact that it's pretty thick wood so they can't be broken easily. The only downfall is the sound when you piece the puzzle piece on. Wish it was a little louder, but my daughter loves it.
Holds true to the great Melissa & Doug quality that we have grown to love. Nice wood, more than just your basic shapes and nice bright colors and puzzle knobs. My hope was that since it's a Pooh theme that the voice would be Pooh or Piglet. However it's a random male voice :(. We shut the sound off because it can tend to malfunction. Stick to the basic functions of the puzzle and your good to go.
Such an adorable puzzle! My LO can't get enough of the colorful pictures. I love that the pieces are sturdy and perfectly sized for little ones to grab. The colors are bright, and the characters are well drawn. The knobs help with perfecting the pincher grab, and of course inserting the pieces, and removing them. I was expecting the sounds to be animated, but it's helpful nonetheless. I appreciate not having to say the shape names, and having the ability to clean or just breathe.
Let me start by saying we LOVE Melissa & Doug toys. Everything we have gotten has been good quality, long lasting, and affordable. This one was pretty on-par as far as looks and how the pieces work together. It was very colorful, the characters were clear, the shapes were clear, and the concept was clear. The only issue we had was that after receiving, we put brand-new batteries in, and it worked fantastic for the first few hours. Then it only worked intermittently after that as far as the speaking feature. Nothing broke as far as pieces or anything, so I can only assume that maybe ours had a short or something of the like. We still really like it, the shapes and colors are still functional and we will keep trying to work with it. We can maybe just hope that it works while our 3-year old wants to use it, but ours was a bit of a dud in that regard.
I really like that this puzzle says the shape names so my 2 year old can learn his shapes easier. It's very colorful and has the familiar Winnie the Pooh characters on it. It doesn't come with batteries, takes 2 aaa. The shapes have a little sensor that senses the metal piece on the puzzle pieces. One down side is that it says the shape's name even if you put the wrong shape over the puzzle slot. So if I had the circle and put it over top the square hole, it would still say square. Obviously the piece wouldn't fit in the hole, so it's a minor complaint. The metal sensor is a bit rough looking, but it's covered with a clear piece, so there's no worry about a child hurting themselves. The puzzle is quite thick and sturdy, I'm not worried about it breaking. My two year old is able to use this puzzle well and figure out where the pieces go. He enjoys that it talks too. Overall it's a fun puzzle that will hopefully help my child learn.
I like this little interactive puzzle because it tells you the shapes but the only downfall is that the sensors that are built into the puzzle board and the shapes have no way of knowing the difference. Example, if I try to put the square shape into the rectangle spot it will still say rectangle. That can get very confusing for younger children. They should have designed it to only say the name of the shape with the right hole. Other then that the kids still love playing with it.
I was honestly a bit disappointed that this doesn't make Winnie the pooh sounds. The voice is very monotone and simply says the name of the shape. I took the batteries out because my son was concerned with the voice. If anything, I just say the words myself and it is more relatable. It's otherwise good quality and a nice puzzle. But there's nothing Winnie the pooh about it other than the stuck on design.
