This is a cross cut paper shredder. The shred width is 5/32" x 1 5/8". It will shred up to 17 sheets of 20lb bond in addition to credit cards and CD/DVDs fed in one at a time. My first look at the shredder was a very positive one. It looked great and it was all self-contained. She weighs about 28 lbs. The wheels and casters make it easy to move around on had surfaces. A little bit harder on carpet. The large waist basket is a plus. The waste basket has small wheels which follows a molded track that allows for easy removal and replacement. The machine will not turn on when the basket is not in place. Applying power to the shredder gives off a blue glow from the mouth, power button and a string of icons located on top. In my opinion the string of icon is not necessary they do not do anything but light up. They remind the operator to use caution during operation which could have been done with a simple sticker. Shredding paper is a breeze. The paper feed is situated so the shredder can be slipped under some desks or table. This is not possible for the credit card or CD/DVD slot which must be feed directly from the top. The powerful shredding action allows up to 17 sheets of 20lb bond (About 15 sheets for 24lb bond. Note: the 24lb bond data is not in the specs that comes with the machine. It is a calculation based on the thickness of the paper). With the power on and paper fed in to the slot it curves downward to meet the shredder this will start the shredding process. The shredding will stop when the paper has finished. Because of the way the paper feeds into the machine it is easier to align it to the opening which alleviates the balling on the edges like other shredders . It shreds credit cards and CD/DVDs without hesitation. If you are into recycling, remember to dump the basket between the plastics and paper. In case of a paper jam there is an automatic reversal of the paper. If the specs are exceeded then the thermal motor over load protection will turn off the machine.
After using this shredder for several weeks I found it to be a good working shredder, the only drawback is it's a lil slow but it does the job
It heats up very quickly so not really recommended for bulk paper shredding.
