We bought for our 2yr. old son. He doesn't fully nderstand how to use it but has fun learning how to play with it. He loves it and adores how it has his favorite cars on it. I would suggest though that maybe it could've had a nite light thing on it so you won't have to be in bright lite to see the screen.
My child already loves Lightning McQueen so I knew this would be a hit in our home. He loves the games and has even mastered reading and spelling some three letter words! (he's four and a half) Even when the actual laptop is closed he uses it as a car so I'm definately getting my $'s worth. Although he hasn't quite got the hang of using the mouse to play some of the games there are arrow keys on the keyboard that he uses well. This is a very good investment for a Lightning McQueen loving boy who's mommy wants him to learn as well!
A little spendy but this thing is full of fun activities that are perfect for those kids who are getting ready for head start, preschool, or kindergarten.
Great product. Little man has been on it since he opened it. Great learning tool.
My mother got this item for my son for his 3rd birthday. He uses the computer everyday and has mastered many of the games: he can spell many of the words, put things in order, and work the mouse AND the keyboard. He's also dropped it a few times and spilled a couple of drinks on it and it still works! Great product and I'm VERY happy with it!
We bought this laptop for our 4 year old grandson's birthday,he loves it!! It has games programed in it plus it's helping him learn his alphabet other than just recite them-plus it's just cute!!
The mouse is so sturdy! Even with the rough treatment and failure to return it to it's proper storage place, it continues to work perfectly. His older siblings beg to play it as well. It is very affirming, and tells you the right answer so you can learn from it and get it right the next time.
I bought this product for my niece and the only problem I have is the screen size. The screen size is still the same size as toys like these that were sold 20 years ago. With all the technology we have today you would think they could make the display screen bigger.
Product could be better - "tire" mouse is not great for little hands and doesn't stay locked in place when not wanting to use... keyboard design is poor -- can take several attempts to get letter typed in - not good for spelling portion... graphics are not the greatest but we were aware of that when we purchased it... activities OK - could be a a great laptop for kids if they would improve mouse & keyboard... returned item and are sticking with leapfrog...
I recently bought this laptop for my 3.5 year old given the excellent reviews. It is way to to advanced for even 4 year olds. My son got extremely frustrated with it despite I was next to him to show him what to do (you have to know the alphabet and to count to 20 at least). I even tried it on a 5 1/2 year old and he got bored immediately. I think kids older than that would use a real computer. My son already does ... The computer itself it is very cute, nice colors and butttons ...but that's all about it. I was hoping to keep my son busy with it in the car . The monitor itself is very small, very poor contrast/quality. I do not think that a 6 year old or older would play with this (age recommended is 4-8), they would want the real thing. There are many other educational CDs out there for toddlers/older kids that could be played on real computers. I was just hoping to keep him away from my own computer sometimes. It would be good for a much younger child to play with it as a toy, to push the buttons randomly, given the fact that the it is so nicely colored. I wanted to buy something educational not another toy/car as we already have millions.
