Pros: Great for landscape photography. Super sharp. VR useful in dim light even with a wide-angle telephoto. Cons: None as of yet. Other thoughts: Considered both the Nikon 14-24 f2.8 and the Tamron 15-30 f2.8 but, chose the 16-35 due to ability to use circular polarizer and neutral density filters.
Pros: Consistent Output, Fast / accurate auto-focus, Nice Bokeh Cons: Heavy Other thoughts: Lens is good for landscape/scenery. A little heavy. But very sharp lens.
Pros: On my D800 this lens is as sharp as my nikon 20 and 35 mm primes. In a zoom that is a spectacular achievement. It is obviously much slower but for the landscape shooting I do with it the VR lets me hand hold down to half a second easily and a second if I brace myself on something. Makes tripods unnecessary for most shots. This is an upgrade for me from the Tokina 17-35 f4, which is also very good but not quite as sharp and doesn't have the VR. Cons:
Pros: Easily Interchangeable, Strong Construction, Fast / accurate auto-focus Cons: Heavy Other thoughts: I got this lens because most of my pictures are architectural or landscape, so I needed a wider angle than my 50mm. Glad I chose this one, it feels sturdy, rugged, responds quickly with autofocus and I can finally get the whole subject in the pictures. The only thing I have to get used to is its weight, it's a good wrist workout. [...] Way to go Buydig, I will receommend you to all of my photo friends.

Pros: Fast / accurate auto-focus, good focal range, Consistent Output, Very Sharp Cons: Long, Reasonably heavy Other thoughts: This is a very sharp lens that works great on full-frame (D700) Nikon cameras. The VR is very handy to extend the shooting to darker static images, eg. past sunset landscapes, night-time city scapes. I didn't give it 5 stars because of its bulk and particularly because of the distortion at the wide end of the focal range. I'm using this with the 70-300VR as my 'light' travel kit with the D700.

Pros: Fast / accurate auto-focus Cons: Heavy Other thoughts: I use this lens mostly for outdoor shots, landscape and cityscape photos. Focus is fast and sure, images captured are mostly sharp but distortion is quite obvious at the widest settings. Overall, the lens compares very well with my Nikkor 14-24mm lens and I can use my 77mm filters with the 16-35mm lens!
