Advantium does SO much more than just a microwave

We had the GE Profile Advantium Over-the-Range Oven for over ten years. We chose the 240 Volt version. It finally quit on us in March 2022. We liked the original Advantium so much that we chose to replace it with a new one of the same type (GE Profile, stainless steel, 240 Volt). The Advantium costs more than twice the price of a regular microwave oven, but to us, it is worth the cost. The Advantium has heat lamps that can brown the food and cook/bake in a fraction of the time of a conventional oven, by using a combination of the microwave and the heat lamps. It takes a little practice, but after a short learning curve, you learn to adjust the heat lamp and microwave settings to get the food cooked just the way you like it. Baked potatoes can be baked with the Advantium in half the time, but still get the taste and look of potatoes baked in a conventional oven. You can bake or even reheat items using the heat lamps and it doesn't come out soggy, and it can be browned and crisp. The control panel is pre-programmed with settings for just about anything you'd ever want to cook, and you can also manually set it up to cook with any combination of the lamps and microwave that you wish. It even has a convection oven feature, and, if you're wondering, yes, you can use just the microwave without the heat lamps, if you like. It also has a countdown timer and vent fan and a surface light built in. We also like the look of the oven with our other GE Profile appliances. I have only one complaint - the clock display will not stay on all the time. It goes off 30 seconds after the oven is inactive. This clock was the one we always looked at on the former oven and we really miss it on the new one. But, GE is not responsible for this issue. It is a requirement by the DOE to save energy, and therefore, it cannot be overridden. REALLY??? They think that shutting off a small digital clock is going to save a lot of energy? Leave it to the government to require something so stupid and inconvenient. But....we do love the Advantium and would highly recommend it to anyone who wants to save a lot of time and heat in the kitchen. Just realize that it will cost a lot more than a regular microwave. But, we believe the benefits outweigh the extra cost.

We purchased our first Advantium "microwave" when we remodeled our home in 2001. After 10 years of heavy use, it was time to replace it. Of course our only choice was another Advantium. We even waited a month for production of the newest version to be completed and shipped and we are not the most patient people. We have often been amazed how quickly items are ready when utilizing the speed cook function. It makes it so easy to prepare tasty, healthy meals in a fraction of the time required utilizing conventional ovens. Bottom line - we love our Advatium oven.

This one does it all like magic . I got the 240 volt unit... and the automatic vent activation, speed bake and browning capability are well worth the money. I've had an Advantium for 10 yrs and not a single problem. Great product ! Kudos to the designers.

I previously had a 20 year old Advantium unit that had a 240v flash oven/microwave. I definitely wanted to stay with a 240v to get the faster cooking speeds. This new unit has that and way more. Plus I was able to use the previous mounting plate and the mounting holes in the cabinet lined up with new unit.

I love my Advantium. It's a combination of a microwave and convection oven. The microwave part is perfect. I can't even describe how easy and effective it is. I use the convection oven all the time. It simply does not heat up my house. I live in the desert and the air conditioning bill is plenty high without the oven heating up my house. And if that's not enough to convince you to buy this amazing appliance, you can use the microwave and convection oven together and bake a potato in 7 minutes and it tastes like a baked potato not a messed up microwave potato. This is a must have appliance, not a fancy microwave

I purchased my first Advantium in 1999. It finally had a problem and we couldn't get parts. We bought a brand new Advantium. It is fabulous

Doing a small kitchen remodel and the number of kids in the house is getting less, so was looking into something that could do small meals instead of the big oven.. After much research I found the 240v advantium and placed the order, a little nervous on the feature ease of use. The day came, install was simple even had all the mounting bolts to use if you can't find a stud, Big Surprise.. Anyhow dumped me a pan of brownies for “The Test” figuring it would take a min to get the hang of the controls but a simple push, a scroll, and another push and it was off and cooking!!! But the real surprise was the box called out 36 min the speed cook set it at 16 and after 14 it asked me to check it if it was done and it was perfect!!! So less than half the time, great features, super fast, very good looking product.

This replaced a 20 year old Advantium that still worked. I had to make the plug hole bigger in the cabinet bottom to accommodate the wider plug, and the right side mounting screw hole did not line up so I had to drill another hole. I could and did use the existing ductwork. I removed the blower motor, spun in around, the flipped it a qtr turn to set it up for back venting. Instructions were excellent. It looks nice. It has a three-speed vent fan, seems to heat food a bit faster. Looking forward to using the recipes. The glass tray has dimples on it to fit onto the turnstyle but the metal plates do not. Not sure if these will stay in place. Exhaust fan and cooking noise/sound=quieter than the original model. This model is deeper. It sticks out more something like an inch or inch and a qtr past the cabinets. There are two racks for baking. These should not be installed when microwaving. Clock goes dark until a key is touched-energy saver, I guess. Definitely a two person job. I used the old mounting bracket-I kept it in place. It worked great. Overall a good purchase and an easy install.

Made cheaply

This does not compare to my first adventium. The vent is located on top instead of in front (like my old one)which makes it a pain to always clean kitchen cabinet above. You also can't leave food inside a very short time without having to open door again to power on. Too many steps just to microwave.

Works good until it breaks

This microwave worked great until one day the handle snapped off luckily it was just before the warranty went out so they replaced it with a whole new door because you cant just screw a new handle in on this unit. Well the handle broke again in the same way. It is a flimsy plastic handle and cannot hold up to the force it takes to open the door. I'm not sure how it happened but the thing that turns the turntable cracked in pieces it is made of a ceramic like material and one day a weird vibration sound was coming from the microwave and we noticed the turntable wasn't turning it stopped making h the noise once we removed the pieces, I tried to glue it but it didn't hold (without the turntable working it cooks extremely uneven). The third thing that broke is the cover that goes on the top the plastic nubs that hold it in place broke off luckily it still sits there as long as you don't bump it too hard. For the money this appliance cost I don't think the handle should be so cheaply made to keep breaking. Maybe the other two things are flukes I wouldn't buy it again unless I was assured the quality of the handle was improved and if someone could tell me why the turntable turntable thing broke.
