I have shoveled snow for the last 70 years and always viewed it as good exercise. However, I decided last year that I wanted to clean the snow off the driveway and sidewalks faster. Therefore, after searching for different models, I decided on this model. I am very pleased to have purchased it. It does an excellent task of cleaning up the snow and easy to carry right into the kitchen to dry off. I store it in my "shop" room. It is easy to change the direction of where the snow is blown. I have used it to remove snow that is over a foot deep. One might have to go slower as the depth of the snow increases; however, I have had no issues with it thus far! AND it is fun!!!
This is one mighty powerful gadget. It comes almost completely assembled from the box (minus the handle and the snow chute accessories which takes less than 15 mins to assemble). Being electric, of course, the hassle with the cord is unavoidable but one finds ways to sweep back and forth with minimum cord entanglements. Another feature I would improve is the safety on/off button. Is a bit difficult to deal with especially with thick gloves, but again, for the value and performance I'm not going to complain. This snow joe works best with snow 2" or higher. Light snow 1" in or lower really doesn't do much. Tall ones 8" or more, you'll hear the electric motor 'slowing' and chewing, but with care and patience it shoots away. Once again, with all said above, this one is perfect for driveways, sidewalks and entrances 2" and up snow fall.
It snowed 3 inches a week after I got Joe-Snow. I must say it worked very well. Light, easy to push, cleaned down to concrete, and through snow a good distance. Plenty of power. The cord wasn't much of a problem, except I didn't have a cold weather cord, which I have now ordered. Bottom line is I like it!
I was skeptical buying an electric snow thrower after having a gas unit for many years. In Ohio we don't get a lot of snow, at least in recent years. When it does snow, its anywhere to 3-6" at the most. So maintaining a gas engine snow thrower year in and year out is not always good. I always had to make sure the carburetor was not gummed up or something. Especially when it may go 2 years between uses. So I got the SJ621 and tried it out this year. I loved it. It was lightweight and easy to maneuver and having a cord to manage was not a problem at all. I have a two car driveway and a corner lot in town with lots of sidewalks and it works great! I love the light as well to help in the dark. This little blower is very powerful and saves me a lot of shoveling.
Bought an electric snow thrower because I didn't feel like having to deal with another gas motor (especially in winter) and I got tired of having to push the snow halfway down my driveway to clear the front of the house. The unit is quiet compared to a gas thrower so I can use it in the mornings without waking the neighborhood. It's light enough to use with one hand and it seems to throw snow further than any of my neighbors gas powered throwers. It also seems to clean right down to the asphalt. I haven't seen a gas powered unit do that without leaving scratch marks all over the driveway. I've gone through a foot of snow with it and I didn't have any issues. When it did clog/bog down, it seemed to clear itself out fairly quickly. I guess that's why it didn't come with one of those clear-out tools as it really doesn't need one. I also use it to clear a stone patio in my backyard as well as my deck so it's light enough to carry.
I have a 20' x 30' driveway and we have had nothing but wet snow this season and I was very pleased and surprised that this little electric unit could handle throwing that heavy mess. Was totally surprised at this units ability to remove snow from from sidewalk and patio. Have used to remove 4" plus of snow, with ice mixed. Unit clears snow down to the concrete and throws it a minimum of 10-12 feet. Has reduced my time spent by 300%. Took a while to develop system of removal with the electric cord, but now very easy and efficient. Would recommend unit
I have used it to clear my 14 x40 ft deck four times so far. Two times it was 12 in on snow. Slow and steady does the job. Cleared my roof and dropped the snow on the deck. Was piled up 2/12 ft of compacted snow with some ice. The blower moved it all. The metal auger is the ticket. Going to use it again tomorrow . We are getting another 10 in tonight. I'm in NH. Had 31 in of snow so far this year. Take small bites and listen to the machine and you won't have trouble with snow deeper than the machine.
I was quite simply surprised how quick and relatively easily this little guy performed, was a heavy wet snowfall of about 6", it cleared a fairly long 4 car driveway in about 25 minutes,including the wet heavy slushy stuff at the end...love it!
I have used the snow blower 3 times since receiving it as a Christmas present. It works well for snow depth of less than 5" One storm left 7" of snow & it was a struggle to push the blower. First, I had to skim off a couple of inches of snow with a shovel & then the blower was able to roll through the rest with a lot of power.
