The multiple attachments for this vacuum are very helpful. They are very easy to change out. It is a little awkward to get the right angle for what you are aiming at sometimes but, the tools really do what they are meant to do. I have only played with place mats for carpet, no big carpets but, the job it does on those versus my Kirby is amazing! My wood floor crevices have never looked/been so clean. Love it. The empty out process is easy, you do have to tap it or help it dump out a little when it has a lot of animal hair sucked up in it but, no where near as difficult as other vacuums and so much simpler than bag or filter vacuums! I am very happy with this. We wanted the cordless vacuum to start with but, after reading reviews on the amount of time it lasted once you use the head attachment, it would have never worked for a household, maybe a small apartment. I feel we made the right choice with this vacuum.
Bravo Dyson. After I broke my old Dyson animal, my hubby ordered this one the same day! We own and live in a historic plantation and we rent it as a wedding venue. I don't know why, but old houses are so very dusty! This vaccum makes turn around time so much quicker. The ball, which I was leary of, works great. It manuevers around our antiques very easily and transitions from hardwood to carpets with the greatest of ease. I used to have to dust mop my hardwards after I vaccumed with my old Dyson because there was still a film of dust. Not so with this beauty! Deep cleaning days are easier with the assortment of amazing tools that come with it. From dusting chandeliers, blinds, or under couches and armoirs, we can get it all! I really didn't think you guys could improve on the suction power of the original Dysons', but you absolutely did. Our area rugs look new again! And our house stays dust free longer! In getting the whole house clean, The Dyson needs an applaud. As I gravitate from one room to the next, I am armed with gadgets gallore! Any space, nook, or cranny, I pull out my magic wand and adhere an attachment to the fixture to watch dirt, grime, and HAIR disappear before my eyes. Ever try cleaning a place that which requires a ladder, I reach the unspeakable. Far and wide, above and below, Dyson and I make a terrific team in when it comes to eliminating the unwanted fragments to which formulate the very collected and condensed artificial particulars that in turn cause the constant sneeze. Finding the machine to be heavy, my Father suggested a better way to hold onto my lovely partner in cleaning, and away Dyson and I go with my bookbag of assorted tools to complete a thorough job. I feel proud after the job is done. It's unbelievably nice on how a machine can work well with a human towards a positive forward stride ahead and earn a sit back in where we can all breathe in the clean air.
The only thing that you'll regret about this vacuum is that you didn't buy it sooner. I bought this because I have 2 cats and a dog ... and a 10 year old vacuum. In the initial use I can't explain enough how it confirmed I made the right decision- I didn't know vacuuming could be this satisfying. It comes with a ton of tools and is extremely versatile. Really impressed.
I just retired our old DC29. We have a carpet since 6 month and I was worried how to get a brush for my old one. So the wand handle broke and I decided to get us a new one. I've more money in this model. I know it hurts, but after I vacuumed our apartment, the dust bag was almost full. We clean every day but still... . A lot of fine white dust sand and I don't release know... Thanks Dyson for helping to reduce our allergies! So happy!
I just got this machine and already I am hooked on the features and tools. I have Pugs and they are notorious for shedding! (Photo attached) OMIGOSH, this machine picks up the dog hair so well I cannot believe it. It is relatively quiet compared to my old Dyson. I like the maneuverability of the cinetic big ball, although it takes a little to get used to it. The cord is long so you can vacuum a lot of space before having to re-plug it into another outlet. It's simple to assemble, especially using your illustrations.There are numerous tools and I am still learning what they do.If only I could get my husband interested in using my Dyson.....
This machine has great suction even for a Dyson, and the suction stays Dyson, thanks to some voodoo inside that skips using a filter. There's no filter to clean, at all. Inside the ball wheels, there are two hepa filters that do not get cleaned, but after many years MAY need replacing, just unscrew the old wheels, screw on the new. I found a helpful youtube video from a couple of vacuum tech guys wherein they recommended taking out a certain plastic bar in the brush roller head and throwing it away. It increases the airflow and avoids jams, but not sure if it works for everyone. My house is just dusty with some typical dirt, no animal hair, etc. So for me, removing this bar made sense and I did so. For others, maybe not. I've shown the part in the picture, it requires a torx screwdriver and there's I think 3 screws total to remove it. Two of the screws are to the bar itself, the third seems to go through and holds something else besides. You can figure it out. The techs said they got these machines in for "cleaning" and had to take them apart in a very major way with a lot of labor to get the clogs out of them around high tech vibrating tips, etc. Not an easy, quick job at all, and probably cost the customer a lot of money? I would be hesitant to attempt it myself for fear of getting it apart and never together again? But anyway, the machine overall is worthwhile. Mine came from a thrift store and had a broken brush roller bar that only rotated on one side, and the other just stayed still. The plastic shaft had broken in the middle inside a bearing sleeve, so I was able to glue it with epoxy easily, the metal bearing sleeve holding the two pieces together. This, to me, means the machine isn't for everyone with objects on the floor that could impact or jam the roller to a point of breaking it this way. I could do this being handy and having a Dremel moto-tool to prep the shafts and bearing sleeve with grooves to grab the epoxy for mechanical retention. It runs fine now. One more thing, the thingy that holds the cyclone onto the stand broke due to being paper thin plastic, so I beefed that up with an epoxy prosthetic patch so now it will NEVER break again. I'm handy, but more than that I really wanted this machine to work and be free of problems, since the idea of it is superb, just needed some tweaks.
To big for personal home use. Great vacuum is you just need it for every now and then but if you use it A LOT it starts to fall apart very quickly. I use mine every day and after about 6 months of having it I need to send it back because the balls are breaking and cracking and the rotator in the head that digs all the dirt from carpet quit on me making it useless on carpet. Also the head doesn't come apart with ease making it difficult to clean. It looks gross.
I have this vacuum a few years now and only use it if I am having issues with my other vacuum, which is also a Dyson Animal vacuum (DC14, best vacuum ever) I got the new one so I had one for when the old one died. Well the new Dyson's design changes are terrible. The biggest thing I hate about it is the size of the canister, it fills to the max line quickly and I vacuum once a week or more (seven cats and one 6 yr old) and even then you cannot get the canister to dump the garbage without sticking your fingers up the side (that is all the room that is in there, just the fingers not the palm of your hand just the fingers, I have small hands) you cannot shake the stuff out and when you open in the trash a cloud of dust comes out so I have to empty outside and it takes a while to pull all the lint, fur and general dust and garbage out. Old vacuum has much bigger canister all you do is open and dump (same dust cloud but no bag) Old vacuum I can almost vacuum the whole house before I have to empty (2550 square foot house mostly with carpet) Other than that problem which makes it at least 4 times longer to vacuum ( I can think of better things to do with my time) it has good suction, maneuverability and cleans quite well near walls. I also do not like that I have an attachment for my old machine that has a beater bar also that I use on the stairs and it will not fit on this vacuum. Also besides that the new vacuum is very hard to vacuum the stairs with, it is very awkward.
I bough it about 2.5 years ego and it is the second time the brush bar needed to be replaced. One of the screws at the end of the brush bar rubs against the soleplate assy, the screw heats up and melts the plastic of the brush bar, which causes the brush bar to get stuck and stop working.
