I purchased this to keep items warm while cooking others for thanksgiving and it worked great! Started to dry out after 2 hours but was easily cured by adding more sauce or broth as needed. It is large enough to hold a 9x13 dish worth of casserole easily. It breaks down for easier storage but the base is rather large and will not fit in standard cabinets.
The best choice I ever made was to purchase this product on line. I checked the one' at the store looked too cheesy and cheaply made. At my tailgate gathering it kept my food warm. Infact, I replaced the containers with foil ones. I used it for a food warmer. I had many compliments and offers. I can not wait to use it for Thanksgiving. I should have taken photos so people would be convinced that the product does work. I forgot to say that I had this hook up on my portable generator. Yeah!! :)
I ordered this item specifically to be used for Thanksgiving dinner and it exceeded my expectations. The food was kept warm and tasty and this appliance looked great on my countertop. Cleaning it was a breeze. Easily one of the best purchases I've made and I will get a great deal of use out of it in the future.
Our Super Bowl parties will never be the same ! Everyone is going to be using one of these in the future to bring a dish to pass. Everyone asked "Where did you get it ?" and "Only $35 ??" It rivals some of the chafing dish servers at our local fraternal club, without the sterno cans to deal with. Top quality; pans hold a LOT of food; everything stayed warm all day (did rigatoni in one, meatballs in one, and breadstix in one). At next year's party (hopefully my Buffalo Bills are back in the Super Bowl) I bet there will be 5 or 6 of these lined up on our buffet table with a variety of great foods in them !
I have had mine for several years. Once everyone see's that the food stays hot, everyone wanted one, so I bought several for christmas presensts this year. I do not use the inserts that come with the warmer, because I do not like the cleanup or when food starts to burn on the bottom. However, I use the disposable foil pans and toss everything at the end of the event. I just line the buffet table with them, no more water, sterno heaters or flimsy wire pan holders. Wipe them down and they store easy.
When I received the product, one of the lids was cracked in the corner. I did not want to go through the hassel of returning the entire product for this small chip. I called the Nostalgia Customer Service office on about October 21, and requested a replacement lid. I was told that they would ship one. To date, I have not received. I hope the Representative who I spoke with was serious and I receive shortly because this would make we very happy about my purchasing experience.
This worked well for a big party. I also used again for a smaller party. I plan on using for Thanksgiving and Christmas too. I feel it will make the leftovers easy to store also. At one point I popped the metal trays in the oven, to heat up some leftovers. Then placed the hot trays in the heated unit. However you need to handle this unit gingerly it seems like it could break easily. If you leave food on for to long, it will dry out.
I bought this server because I was hosting Thanksgiving at my home. It works well, I like that you can take each tray out and use the bottom as a warmer. It seemed like the food was kept warm, but I can't really say because it was warm when I put it in. Each individual pan holds a lot of food, looks can be deceiving. The tops are flimsy, they are plastic,be careful. It says you can put the tops in the dishwasher, I would not do that. Hand wash is the best. For the price, it is a great option, it looks better than those cheap tin warmers with the chafing fuel.
used it once at the park. nob broke off within 2 hrs. during the event. Then it turned off. Not sure if it was damaged in shipping or if it's just poor quality. Either way it BROKE! didn't even last the the one event. :(
went to wash the inserts and plastic covers before we used it for Thanksgiving and the plastic covers cracked. Will not necessarily ruin the effect but looks horrible. Needless to say I was embarrassed using them on the holiday.
