We have had this jeep for 5 years. It's held up through 3 kids. My boys gave it plenty of punishment, so much that the back wheels have holes in them. All my kids have loved this!! We have the power wheels ATV and there is no comparison. Peg Perego is far superior!! It can ride up and down small hills with two kids in it with no problem. However, if the hill is too steep it cuts out leaving it rolling back down the hill backwards. I'm not sure if that is just our jeep or a defect all around. Drawback; it needed repair once and the closest repair place was 50 miles one way. And we are in a major city!! The grandparents went in on this which helped with the $$. You can re-sell easily when you are done with it.
We really took our time in researching ride-on's for our daughter. She is older (5) and we wanted to make sure the jeep would fit her for a few years. I recommend measuring your child in a seated position from the back of their rear end to where their knee bends. So many of the ride-on's are made for 3 and 4 year olds, and are small. The Gaucho SUV is great for an older child and has an adjustable seat and plenty of knee room and growing room. This ride-on also has a better turning radius that others we tried. We live in the country and it has worked on grass, dirt roads and small hills. We took it to some asphalt and it performed well there too. I also recommend keeping the jeep in the slow speed for a while until your child is good a going thru narrow spaces ect. We make a game of it with our daughter and she loves the challenge of navigating w/o hitting what ever we set up. The only drawback to the Gaucho is it is pricey! I almost didn't get it because of the price, but now I am glad we did.
If you are looking for the best of the best in ride on vehicles for your kids, this is it! Huge monster truck size tires, 3 speeds, radio & horn that work, this will tower over your neighbor kids' vehicles and make your kids feel like kings/queens of the road! As a 27 year old mother, even I'm impressed by the design of this and your kids will too! Works best on flat surfaces (grass, gravel, concrete) and small inclines, but if your kids drive on big steep hills or roads, it won't work for you (no ride on will work for those conditions, as they are meant for mainly level ground). Battery only lasts about an hour of constant riding, so you'll need a spare, otherwise you'll have a crying kid when you tell them they have to wait till tomorrow to ride, as it takes 18+ hours to charge it properly. If you're going to buy a ride on vehicle, do it right the first time, and buy this one, don't buy some cheap vehicle, go with the best there is! Peg Perego is a name you can trust, look at their history of baby items (car seats, etc), they can't be beat! Recommended for ages 3-7+ years , and that's pretty accurate, as it's tough to reach the pedal at age 2 or 3, and this is a heavy duty vehicle so it'll last your kids a long time with some love & care storing it indoors (storing it outdoors may ruin the wiring due to humidity, etc).
once i opened the box there was a problem the gaucho was scratched up from the hood. i know its impossible to keep it perfect but your paying for the product and it should be in good conditions. i've had it for 1 week and its been running good.
I am extremely unhappy with the quality of this product. Many things are broken right out of the box. The lights dont work, there are no replacement bulbs as stated in the instructions. The plastic web on the back is broken, one of the two mirrors is broken. most importantly, the pre-put together front wheel assembly, is missing parts. So it was put together by the manufacturer without a spacer on one side, so one front wheel just flops around. If we were able to actually use it, maybe I could rate the funtionality of the toy. But as of yet we still cant use it.
