I'm a power user, but with a wife and two kids it became too much of a hassle when things stopped working and I was the only person to troubleshoot. I got myself this setup plus another eero (two wired, two beacons) and I haven't looked back. Stupid easy to setup (just plug everything in and ouila.) Easy to monitor. Simple port reservation setup. Only gripe is no IPv6 support, but I imagine that will eventually come with a software update. Great product.
I'm a power user that has configured routers with wi-fi hotspots and extenders in the past. The setup of those systems was always involved and usually took quite a while to get just right, and you would still have to reset them occasionally. All of that goes away with eero. Setup is an absolute breeze (though you will need a iOS or Android smart phone to set it up). But basically follow the instructions in the app, which will ask you to plug in a base station to your internet modem and to power and then plug in the beacons or additional base stations, and you're up and running, literally within minutes. I live in a 3 story house, and put my base station in the basement and then two beacons on the main and upstairs level, and haven't really even thought about wi-fi ever since. The final piece to the wi-fi puzzle is demonstrated by the recent KRACK wi-fi vulnerability (google it if you're not familiar with it). The technicians at eero resolved the issue on their devices by pushing out a firmware update to all of their eero units with ZERO user input required. I was staying on top of this particular vulnerability, but even I didn't realize that my eero routers had been updated until the day after it had occurred, which was within a week of the discovery! So whether you're a super user and up to date on latest vulnerabilities or not, eero is a great choice.
I like almost everything about my Eero. It installed easily and automatically (if maybe just a little slowly).
Went to Walmart in South Bay looking for a TV and ended up talking to a guy about WiFi. My WiFi is not good. It doesn't reach my kitchen or the three bedrooms behind it very well. My eldest kid is always complaining. I decided to get Eero before getting the TV because good WiFi is important for Netflix and YouTube. The guy at Walmart said I could return it if it didn't work out. I got home and set up the Eero ports and my WiFi signal is incredible. I had no idea that my signal could be so good. My kid was even happier than me and started going room to room to see if his phone had a good signal. This is a quality product. It's expensive, so I had to really think about it, but if you want something that'll make a big difference in your life, get these Eero pods. I won't be returning these. I'm actually thinking about getting them for my office at work. We have a really big warehouse and the signal is bad. It's good that Walmart has these and I didn't have to drive somewhere far from my house.
The Eero system is GREAT! It stretches the Internet to places of my house that previously had trouble receiving it. It was easy to install too!
