I bought this machine for my granddaughter's first sewing machine. We are going to do projects together. It is a basic machine that will start her off on her way to being a seamstress.
It was easy to put together and the quick start instructions were easy and helpful. I was able to start sewing in an hour and that includes the time I got distracted by the little ones. It's very good for beginners and I would recommend it to everyone! The only problem that I had was that the automatic threader was harder to use than actually threading it myself. But, it shipped fast and it was easy to use, I highly recommend this product.
I am posting this review as part of my entry in Walmart's Holiday Sewing Contest. Like Singer machines a lot. It's the best. I borrowed it from my mother in low to sew curtains in my house, some stuff for my kids, and also I fixed a lot of clothing for myself and my kids . Very easy to use, the best for beginners. Beautiful and comfortable design. Reasonable price and saves tons of money. Love it.
This machine Singer 2263 is perfect for little girls just starting in sewing. They can easily read the instructions and do the sewing themselves.
easy set up and auto needle threader
I am posting this review as part of my entry in Walmart's Fall Sewing Contest. My mom always had sewing machines (the older ones attached to work table) by Singer. So I bought a more mobile one for myself and it was user friendly and didn't snag the threading as I feared a smaller machine would. I started a project making my niece a gift. I'm happy the machine was able to bring my idea to life. I presented her the gift asking: "Do you want to build a snowman?"
Handle was broken. Could not have been damaged in transit. To bad factory service did not pick up on this. It does not effect the operation so I can't be bothered returning it. Other then that it is easy to operate, had necessary accessories and came with good instructions.
I bought this in person at Walmart three years ago. I wanted something simple so I could make pajama pants. I chose this machine because it was inexpensive and the reviews all said it was fine for granddaughters, etc. Maybe there's something the granddaughters aren't telling Granny, because this machine is a true chore to use. All I needed was a machine to stitch a long, straight line. This machine will do that, but after a long fight with the thread and the bobbin. I was so frustrated with this machine and was convinced that it was me. I finally took it to a class and the teacher said NO beginner machine should have a front-facing bobbin... A beginner machine should have a top-loading bobbin. The bobbin was the source of all my woes (thread bunching, giant knots, needle jams, etc.). I ended up giving it to a co-worker who has used a lot of different machines over the years. She has the experience to troubleshoot what's going wrong each time the machine stops after about ten stitches. It was quicker for me to stitch the pajama pants by hand than fool with machine.
The purchase was very easy and the delivery was on time,. The price was great, the weight and simplicity of it's functionality was great however there was a problem with the handle. When the handle was upright it touched the thread and I was concerned the thread would break. Once the handle was up it was extremely difficult to lay it back down. Unfortunately I decided to return the sewing machine. Could have been just this particular machine but I just wasn't going to settle.
The tension on the machine is never consistent. I'm constantly having adjust everything on the same project. It's a decent machine for the price but I definitely would've gotten something different that would last longer if someone told me about it.
