I bought this not for a desktop but a small TV area and the size was perfect. I like the fact it oscillates and I can set a timer. The remote is a bonus but I had to switch out the battery right away; it is also handy that it stores on the unit. Over all I am very happy with it.
1. Comes with a detachable remote. Upon arrival the remote could not be removed since it had become impacted during delivery. Although not physically damaged it required a screwdriver to loosen it. The finish was minimally marked in the process. Now the remote pops in and out securely. Remote is operated by two small button batteries. 2. Nice vertical and horizontal design to assist in putting heat in the proper area. 3. Oscillation mode is very nice allowing air to sweep in cooler areas. 4. Variable preset heat settings from 80˚ down to 65˚ that also include a "Frost Watch" for when temperature below 40˚. A timer setting can be activated for heat to shut off after 1 to 10 hours. 5. Nice built-in carry handle. Wish it had storage for power cable which would have made it very compact and portable. 6. Safety features include overheating or tipping over. 7. Indoor use only. Don't use extension cords. 8. One year warranty. 8. Minimal owner's manual. Could have been more thorough. But, useful as is. This heater went on sale for below $40 which makes it an exception product and value. It's got great looks and works quite nicely in smaller rooms such as a home office - 12'x12'. (For bigger rooms that may include a large bedroom or playroom an oil filled radiator style unit might be more preferable.) The remote is a nice accessory as long as it is not misplaced. At this point would easily purchase the product again for an additional room or as a gift.
Finally picked up the heater from the store after 2 weeks. Looks nice and sleek BUT I CANNOT TURN IT ON. Will return to the store, order another one and update after I receive that one.
The heater did not switch on. Never worked. Had to return.
Item was well packaged for shipping site-to-store. Opened manufacturer's packaging to find head broken off from base. Appeared that the main part that allowed the head to swivel was made from plastic and couldn't take the stress. Called manufacture as directed on package, no one ever returned my call. Took it back to Walmart to get a refund.
