I am truly satisfied by the weight, quality, and the pictures that I have taken. This was my dream camera. I bought it on New Years Eve 2018 and since then, I have taken over 8000 photos. It was worth it.

I bought it during 2016 Thanksgiving and it is almost 7 months. Shot more than 10k snaps and still doing. Amazing quality and ease of use. Inspired my friends circle that resulted them to buy this model.

As a retired photographer I wanted to carry smaller camera while retaining the quality of my DSLR and Medium Format. I researched several brands and this fits the bill incredibly well and offered the most for the price. It has the quality I demand in my images and more features than I require but am glad to have. Only con is the "OK wheel and up/down/left/right buttons" around it can easily be changed if not careful such as aperture or ISO accidentally changed. You will get used to it. Defiantly will recommend this camera to anyone.

Small in size, large in performance

I bought the a6000 kit with 2 lenses not long ago and I've been very impressed by the capabilities. I owned a canon 50D, a great camera 5 years ago, and finally switched to the mirrorless world. I wanted something a bit smaller and lighter, with better low light capability. It was down to the Sony and Olympus, but the Sony looked like it had room to grow into, as far as the sensor was concerned. Since I purchased the camera, I've been taking at least a few photos every day and experimenting with the different settings and the programmable buttons. The low light and sharpness performance with the kit lenses has been pretty good with the kit lenses. The autofocus, tracking and 11 frames per second have been great for dog photos. One thing I will be looking for a fast super wide angle lens around the 12 mm range in the near future. In the first photo, I lucked out with an awesome sunrise on the way to work. I did do a little lightening to the foreground in my digital darkroom, but other than that, it was a great morning. I took this one on the "Superior Auto" setting and it was hand held. I just wish I had my tripod and about 10 more minutes to shoot. In the second photo, I was out until almost one in the morning trying to get a shot of the Milky Way. After 5 or 6 tries I finally got the ISO, speed and focus just right. I highly recommend turning on the peaking level and color for this. I used small and red for the stars to get the best sharpness in manual mode. In the third photo, I was playing around with the downloadable filters. This one is called "Toy Camera" and it is pretty fun. It looks a little like when using a tilt-shift lens, but all with software built into the camera. All in all, I could not be happier with the camera. If I would change anything, I would swap the selection dial to the right and the adjustment dial, your thumb naturally sets where the selection dial sits, or maybe a second dial where the power switch is currently . It would be nice if you could adjust the aperture from there. I also have large hands and it would be nice for a little more room to hold onto the camera. This is a tough call though, because if I did that, it would be just as large as a DSLR that I wanted to get away from.

Not For Beginners

The a-6000 is probably a great camera. However, it is NOT a good model for moving up from basic digital cameras and photo editing software. A user-friendly "Quick Start" guide for both still pictures and videos would have allowed early success and been MOST appreciated. Even including the Y following the model number on the camera body or instruction manual-- to ease product registration-- would have spared some frustration. (It's on the box, if you're still looking.) Figuring out how to take and view pictures is easier and much more intuitive than videos. To be clear, taking videos is easy. Viewing and/or editing is another story, and the PMM software ridiculously complex. Understandably, there's a learning curve with new technology. However, manuals and videos tend to render most accessible even to novices. This one does not. Truly, this camera is designed for an intermediate photographer--regardless of alternate reviews. Effectively using the basic technologies of this camera has been a very frustrating process for this newbie--who has a doctorate and uses a wide variety of tech regularly. Although I have viewed more than 3 hours of tutorial videos and read the manual, I may need to return it since I still can't simply rotate the short video I took, and reviewing youtube learning videos to find the right one has become too time-consuming. I may even go back a digital recorder and my Nikon film camera, multiple lenses, and photo-editing software since I find point & shoot digitals and camera phones too limiting. #Marketinggap

Brocken lense

I have been using this camera for about 2 years. I'm very happy with the results etc etc. 12 months ago the standard selp1650 lense stopped working until I had to replace it at my own cost. Today whilst on holiday in Malta the second lense i bought has developed the exact same issue and there isn't even a Sony supplier here to buy a third lense. However I now have to decide do i continue buying lenses from Sony that really don't last very long or sell the camera and switch back to cannon (my 450d from 10 years ago is still in fully working order)
