I needed something to help expand my garden areas. This is perfect for the job. I weight 126 lbs and this is not too heavy for a small person.
For the past several years I have gardened using containers but after cutting back a very overgrown bush I was left with a roughly 15'x15' bare space and instead of planting grass I decided to expand my garden. The Sun Joe Tiller TJ600E seems to have been the perfect choice. Assembly was simple and I had my garden tilled the same day the unit was delivered. It easily tilled 6 or so inches deep, was easy to handle and control and only seems to make as much noise as an electric mixer. For smaller residential garden plots this tiller seems a perfect fit - I would make a pass one way and then turn around and go back the other walking along behind as it pulled itself through the soil. One note in that I bought the refurbished model and I am well pleased.
I used this to clear ground around a swimming pool that had been abandoned for 2 years. Lots of small brush, weeds. Will no put down black plastic and cover with pea gravel.
This machine is just right for the small home owner/gardener. Makes it possible for everyone to enjoy fresh vegetables rather than the imported (gased to rippen) you get in the store; no smell or taste. I had almost forgot what a real tomatoe tasted like.
I needed to turn the soil in the yard and re-seed. I saw this electric tiller online and thought what the heck. Much to my surprise it did a terrific job. Plenty of power and easy to handle. I do wish it had a kick stand of something to keep it upright when not in use - you just have to lay the handles on the ground.
One of the best products that I have purchased. I ude it to make or expand my flower beds and to do a path edging around my flower beds.
Easy assembly, light weight,powerful for it's intended use, but requires the user to balance the tiller while working with it. This creates some awward arm positioning to direct the tiller. The tiller is not designed to "stand" on it's own as there are no rear wheels.
I HAVE ONLY USED IT TWICE SO FAR, BUT IT IS WORKING FINE IN MY LITTLE GARDEN, "I REALLY LIKE IT" I HOPE IT LASTS ME A LONG TIME!
This unit worked very well until tiller stopped tilling after several uses. Being an engineer, I decided to check the unit out. Upon opening drive area, I discovered several loose screws. I took one off and noticed it was a WOOD SCREW. I would never use a WOOD SCREW on a vibrating machine. What happened was that two of the 4 screws came off rather easily. This created an unbalanced hold on the main drive beveled fiber plastic gear creating an uneven force on a few of the bevel gear tooth, thus wearing it down until all the tooth were gone. Power can no longer be transmitted. It is a good unit but I would definitely get rid of WOOD SCREWS.
I used mine for putting in a small vegitable garden and it worked ok. I like the price and its weight and how it is very easy to handle. Some of the draw backs to it is its size and the fact that you have to really watch out for rocks.
