I would not go as far as to say you should use it for collecting accurate data, but it does have a 14 day learning program that makes adjustments for altitude that should make it a little more accurate than a lot of the cheaper stations. ****
Easy to set up and use.
First, I want to say this is a replacement for my older weather channel station. It worked fine until the wind blew the sensor off and the dog chewed on it. Now this is the second acurite forecaster I purchased in 2 days, both with the same problem. I placed both the main display and the sensor in the exact same places as the cheap weather channel brand forecaster. The sensor being on the window ledge just across the room from the base. Only about 10 feet apart. Neither acurite stations can pick up the sensor unless I place it right beside the sensor. Batteries are good, I tested both sets. very disappointed.... I will be returning this unit and looking for something other than the Acurite brand
I have tried two AcuRite's in the last few weeks. The distance from the outdoor sensor is supposed to be a long distance. They have only worked if the indoor sensor was within about 25 feet. When the temperature went below zero, the AcuRite showed a balmy 26 degrees. I will return this one and by a different brand.
I ordered 2 for gifts- 1 arrived previously opened with packaging taped together. Where was the quality control - the outside packaging was not disturbed so this was packaged this way.
