I bought this air conditioner for my uninsulated workshop. It works surprisingly well, even on the hottest days. In a small bedroom, especially if you are not used to a window unit, it might be noisy, but as far as keeping you cool - this unit works!
This unit is very easy to install. I had it set-up and running within 15 minutes. It works very nice for what I needed it for which was to cool a couple of rooms. It is capable of cooling much more than my needs. As a compact power house with a hurricane type fan it is a little above average when it comes to noise. I have had no problems since installation.
This window air cond was exactly what I was looking for. Just enough to make a difference. The price was in the ballpark and less than others I had looked at. I did add some screening over the outside vents to prevent things from falling or flying in. Extra screening did not effect performance at all. Works great.
This is a great product. Cools my 900sf appartment in under 30 minutes.
Was on a budget and HAD to buy a new AC. Read the reviews here and compared options. My apartent has electrical restrictions (old wiring, fuse box, two outlets TOTAL), so this model intrigued me. I have to say, "Don't believe all the reviews about the noise!" It is an air conditioner. It makes noise, but no more than the average machine. If you want quiet, spend the $500-800. But, this is by no means any louder than most units. GREAT COOL AIR!!! Works like a champ. The only con I found is that the air shoots directly out. Hard to get it "up". I just made a cardboard deflector and all is well.
This air conditioner made my whole apartment really cool quickly. It is a bit noisy when the compressor is running and the fan keeps running unless it is physically shut off. I could have paid three times as much for a quieter air conditioner, but it does what its job very well. It is an excellent value for the money.
I bought this air conditioner because it had mechanical controls and it was a Frigidaire. All of the 8000 BTU models off the shelf locally were electronic controls. We only use it at night in a bedroom and did not think it would be easy to adjust the electronic controls in the dark. Cools just fine, using it for 300 sq ft. It is not quiet, but we like that since we always sleep with background noise, using a noise machine in the winter. We were having a streak of 100 degree weather and needed to replace an older air conditioner. Site to store delivery only took 2 days.
Good for the money, does a good job of cooling the room it is in. Only complaint is that the unit is very noisy. If you want a whisper quite unit don't purchase this one. If you want a unit that will do the job for the least money this is your best one.
I purchased this A/C because it has the dial controls rather than the newer electronic type with the remote. The house may become a rental someday and simpler is better. Also, because it was 8,000 BTU I figured it would do a pretty good job cooling a couple rooms in part of our house that has an open floor plan. I installed it using a "through the wall" type system rather than as a window unit. (It is designed as a window unit). Of course, I knew I'd have to make modifications to the wall, but that worked out okay and the A/C does a good job cooling. While its a little louder than a smaller unit would be, the sound level is reasonable. My only complaint is that the cooling fins in the rear did not have enough (factory) protection covering them, so after the install I rigged up some ventilated metal screening to cover this and other areas to help keep debris out. Overall, I'm happy with it and would recommend it to other folks.
If you put this unit in your bedroom be prepared to stay awake until exhaustion finally takes its toll. This unit is very loud. There is no difference what cool setting you set. It does the job of cooling a room without a doubt. I could not feel my legs when I woke up in the morning! There is no vent to the outside control. I would recommend this unit for a small office if noise would not make a difference.
