I've never used a heat gun before to strip varnish from my boat and instead used heavy sand paper or chemical strippers. After watching some professionals use heat guns on their clients boats, I decided to give it a try. I stripped and scrapped off the multiple coats of varnish covering a large hatch cover on my boat using the Wagner heat gun in about 2hrs of easy almost effortless work. Being a first time user, I made a couple mistakes and scorched the teak wood surface in a couple places before getting the hang of it. The scorch marks were easily removed during finish sanding. I will be using this gun a lot in the future because it works so well and the cleanup afterward is so simple. The varnish scrapings are easily vacuumed up with a shop vac and there's no dust flying around or the need for more caustic chemicals to dissolve an already caustic substance. This heat gun is truly a superior product that I wish I had been using 10+ years ago.
The looks and performance of this heatgun have so far impressed me very much. It impresses me as being a truly professional tool. It appears sturdily built and it heats quickly and produces a high quantity of heated air, just what I wanted. I particularly chose this gun because it has a replaceable heating element and I can't imagine needing to replace any part ever except the heating element. This gun does what I expected it to do, and even better!
For the price, you can not beat this Wagner HT775 Heat Gun. It is constructed and performs like the more expensive guns. Plus, it has a replaceable heating element that is simple to change, should it ever go out. I used mine for the first time to heat shrink tubing on electrical wires. On the low setting, it took about 20 seconds to complete the heat-shrink process. I also used the low setting to soften and bend plastic tubing. On the high side, this thing will easily soften and strip paint as well. Neither have I had any issues about blowing a 15 amp fuse during continous use. Be sure to use the cool-down fan immediately after use (as described in the instructions) to prolong heating element. This thing gets hot FAST! In addition, I purchased the Milwaukee/Wagner Accessory Tip Kit to use with my heat gun. These really come in handy for those more intricate jobs. And they fit like a glove.
excellent product, see video 0283022C HT775 https://youtu.be/pUmEallBYjQ
It came slightly damaged (one of the legs of the metal bracket was broken off). But I kept it cause I reallly had been waiting on it and needed to use it. It did not effect the usage and I am pleased with the gun itself.
Just received the Furno 700 and was disappointed to find that it is not the product that was pictured. The attached picture is what i received. This one doesn't look as heavy-duty.I am going to try this and see if it works as good.
