Keyboard for advanced players and techies only.

My husband bought this keyboard for me, and I liked the fact that it seemed to have many capabilities. I am self-taught and had not played the keyboard in many years, but since I compose as well as play, we liked the fact that it had a recording capability. 1. I did not like the sound quality - it just seems to have a 'tinny' sound, no matter what I did. Call me a prude, but years ago I had a Yamaha organ, and even though it was quite limited as to the number of voice choices, the sound was excellent. The Casio sound just could not compare. 2. The tones appendix was like a mile long, and the print was SO teensy that I would have had to look things up with a magnifying glass. 3. The instruction manual left a lot to be desired. Since I used to translate and compose instruction manuals as part of my job, I would say I have a decent amount of experience where this is concerned. Try as I might, I could not figure out how to do even some of the most basic things. The manual did not even indicate what all the buttons, etc. were actually for. So basically, I was unable to even get to first base with this keyboard. I had to resort to looking for tutorials on yahoo, and they were slim-to-none, so THAT wasn't much help either. Overall, I'd say that unless you're EXTREMELY familiar with all the features this keyboard has, or you know someone who can teach you about all of them, you'll probably end up doing what I did: I became so frustrated with this keyboard that after two weeks I returned it to the store for a full refund, and I am now looking for a Yamaha keyboard that has great sound and a few less techno features to decipher.
