I have tried all the garmins from the nuvi 360 to street pilot 550,I have to say it has everything you need.I bought the 360 GREAT, but I wanted to have the traffic with it.The street pilot offerd it built in so exchange the nuvi 360 for the 550,got and it was also good but notice how sleek and light ,moble the 360 was,so look into getting again. I wanted the traffic it was a $169.00 more for the attachment so added it up and found tha the 660 nuvi had it all. So went with the nuvi 660 iwas very happy to find out it had the traffic detour was built in to it,My phone links up blue tooth and link my phone book to it. all i had to do is say call home and it called (AMAZING)it was also great because it had a wirerless output to link to my radio, which if anyone knows sometimes there not that loud.I have the prompts come thru my radio I call friend or family and here it thru the radio is so cool!!! I say it has it ALL (Plus listen to mp3 or books is great while driving)

We love to travel - why didn't we get this sooner??? Amazed at the info available, this would have saved us much time & searching on previous trips. An added plus is having quick access to addresses/phone #'s of restaurants, attractions, entertainment, ect. Also, this unit is an MP3. Will be using this soon for vacation.

I absolultly love this GPS system it is very accurate and re-routes super fast, it has a wonderful screen quality and plays your music also with bluetooth in it you can actually answer your cell phone through it. Also if your going out of town your can look up all the hotspots around including gas stations, restaurants, clothing stores, it's great but all in all it is a wonderful item that has a lot more to offer then what I wrote but I would take up a lot of space trying to tell everyone how wonderful it really is, so if you have some extra cash and your in the market for a GPS system I urge you to get this one, you wont be dissapointed

An Extremely Useful Product

I bought this product to be prepared for times when I travel to areas in the tristate area that I have never been before so I will not get lost. It is extremely user friendly. To find a route to a destination though, you must know address or cross streets. It did not accept a route number. It has an internal battery that gets charged from your cigarrette lighter but it does not turn on without external power source. You can't walk the streets with it and see how it runs by foot. I find it useful to also explore alternative routes when there is congestion on the highway. However, it would be nice if they included an overall map with route like on mapquest in a software update. You can plug this into your computer and download latest software updates with geographical updates. In time I hope it saves me the trouble of getting lost in Long Island or New Jersey but I have not had any problems yet.

I originally purchased a Magellan and could not see it in the sunlight. The directions my Garmin Nuvi 650 gives is much more accurate than the Magellan. I did alot of research and found that the Garmin is the way to go. Yeah its a tad bit more expensive but you get what you pay for. Its very quick on calculating a route and directions are very accurate and detailed. The text to speech is another plus as it tells you the name of the street to turn on. I use the Garmin everyday and Love it. Nice BRIGHT W I D E screen. I even can customize the little vehicle you see on the screen to my car a MINI COOPER. I would not know what do do without it espically when you need to get to where your going quickly accuratly and you wont ever get lost again. Go for it itll be worth it. Its also VERY easy to use and has the most updated accurate maps of all the GPS units out there.

I think people who have absolutely NO SENSE OF DIRECTION like me will benefit 100% from the Garmin 660 portable navigation system. It is very user friendly, and happens to have a large colorful screen which is visible even in sunlight glare. It is compact enough to fit in my purse, has its own little leather case, comes with three different way to charge (USB to computer/Garmin mount to car charger/plug in adapter to outlet). Some tips-you really have to make sure you get an outside signal before the system can sense where you are, meaning you won't really get signals from your house, be out in open reception areas...then you are good to go! The first time I used this product I was driving out a new place in Long Island, and I got there on time without a problem. I advise you to disable the safety feature of not accessing it while driving, JUST IN CASE you need to change location or route while driving. Of course don't let the navigation system distract you, but if you miss an exit, it recalculates pretty fast to send you on the right route. Yes, Garmin Nuvi 660 is a pretty outstanding gadget, a great value and has cool features *language translator, *guide voice by different male/female accents including British/American accents as you choose!! It can also be set to Pedestrian mode if you are walking and not driving and need directions! TIP: please be careful about LOCKing your Garmin, since you have to send the product back to them if you forget your password....if you do this, there is NEVER a guarantee you get the same unit back...you might get another refurbished model! Be careful about this! In order to avoid having to lock your unit GUARD it with your life (like your wallet). Never leave your Garmin unit in the car or display your charger/stand in your window (or just leave in glove compartment out of sight) unless you want to get robbed (esp in NY). Takes only a few seconds to take the mount down so save yourself some tears and pop it in your bag or coat before you go. Thats all for now folks. Enjoy your Garmin Nuvi 660 unit!! :)

Garmin nuvi 660 - Great Product

I've had my Garmin for about 6 weeks now and I love it. The first day I had it I plugged it in on my way to work. I had a new toy, of course I had to play with it. First thing I noticed was that it was taking me on a road that I wouldn't normally drive. So I ignored it and figured it was just being glitchy. Turns out there was heavy traffic on the highway due to some bad weather and my 660 was just trying to take me around it. Haven't ignored it since. I only have had one trip where it seemed to lose me for a minute and forgot to tell me a turn. But it got me right back on the trail without any problems. My only disappointment is that the FM transmitter seems a bit weak. Listening to the directions and MP3 player isn't as good as I'd like. Not unlistenable, but should be better. I'm going to see how it works using a cassette adapter plugged into the auxiliary jack. Overall, I'm extremely pleased. I bought the 660 because I moved to a new area and needed some help to find my way around. Garmin hasn't disappointed.

A note from the directionally challenged

When I bought this product I did it specifically with a trip in mind...so I waited until I got back to "review" the Garmin. I think that I had a excellent opportunity to rate it. I'm going to make this as honest as possible. Are they infallable? Absolutely not. There were times when I felt it told me too late to make a turn. And other times when I knew where I was going that it was going to send me turning when it wasn't necessary. Knowing it would be a long drive I did everything I could think of to conserve the battery. I got nowhere close to the 6 or 7 hours they said was possible. Make sure you keep the charger handy..and beware - the 1st time I plugged it in the lighter I thought I would never get it out. It was very tight! I had to use a gripper to pull it back out and it wasn't easy. It's a little easier now...but still difficult. I also set up the bluetooth for hands free talking so my phone was going through the Garmin. It really seemed to drain my cell phone battery rather quickly. I had to alternate between plugging in the Garmin and plugging in the phone. Guess I should have bought a car with 2 lighter plugs? Like any technology with both pros and cons...let me say how greatful I was to have the Garmin and that the pros definitely outweighed the cons. Before the trip I saved every address for the places I thought we might like to go as a favorite....it made is exceptionally easy to get around. On occasions when the traffic simply would not allow me to get into the necessary lane to make an exit.... Gabby very non-judgmentally simply "re-calculated" and got me to my destination. My friend who met me for vacation, after seeing Gabby in action - decided she wanted to purchase one for herself. Remember to take an Atlas along anyway....they are always useful...but the Garmin is a wonderful thing. It was well worth the investment. I don't know what I would have done with the closed road - normally I would have just printed directions off the internet....then where would I have been? As it was it only added about 3 miles onto my trip. If you are directionally challenged like me - I know for sure you'll love it. It just makes life so much simpler. Just know there is a small adjustment time as you get used to it's nuances.....but I vote you go for it.

Car plug in fell apart after about one week's use. The GPS kept telling us to turn around as if we passed our turn, but we did not. It kept recalculating as if we went off our route, but we didn.'t.

Had to return

The Garmin Nuvi 660 from Walmart.com website had older software installed. When I attempted to update the software off the Garmin website I ran into a problem updating the Bluetooth Firmware update. When attempting to turn on the Garmin it would freeze and I'd have to reset. It would work until the next time I turned it on again. I called Garmin Tech Support and after trying a couple things they said to just return it to Walmart. The return process was easy however at the local store. Oh well.
