This monitor WAS perfect for my needs. However, some how its signal code got erased and I'd already put the manual in a "safe place" which I've forgot the location of (my fault totally). But you'd think I could download a copy. I'm still unable to find any online instructions. Leaving this product useless to me in the mean time.
My daughter sleeps down stairs and I am upstairs, so to be able to communicate with her is everything. All she needs to do is talk and I can hear her and the parents' moniter is like a walkie talkie so I can respond and comfort her.
This monitor was a disappointment. While the paging and 'talk to child' features work fine, it did not pick up quiet noises. I had to talk in a normal voice directly at the receiver less that two feet away for it to transmit the sounds to the parent unit. When my daughter talked to me, the unit kept going into its stand-by/quiet mode. When it did pick up a noise, the parent unit made a clicking/static sound before transmitting any sound. Then it would go back to stand-by mode. This would happen over & over as my daughter was trying to talk to me. Very annoying. If they would get rid of the stand-by mode and just have it transmit constantly when in the on position, it would be great. I did contact Mobi directly about the problem. They claimed that it shouldn't act like that. They sent me a replacement unit ~ it acted just like to original one did. Oh well. Nice try.
I really like the look of this monitor. It is great that there are no antennas for my son to bend, chew, or break off. It has a cute digital face that tells you if there is noise or not. It comes on only when there is noise so there isn't a constant hum. The bad thing about this monitor is that it interferes with all of our wireless phones and internet. The monitor claims to have a bunch of channels to help this problem but they all interfere. Also the paging feature is pretty pointless since you can talk only from the parent unit to the child, not both ways. There is a beeper with you can use for paging but it is really loud. Overall, for the price, I haven't been too happy with this monitor and wish I had the time to shop around more!
