Had my eye on this for awhile hoping it would not sell out...was looking at processor and other system capabilities. Am not disappointed. LOVE IT. super fast, finally I can stream videos tv and movies without any buffering. easy keyboard, awesome screen, love the no junk attached aspect of the acer...well worth the wait...lots of bells and whistles and power and memory ...the best i could find at this price...even tho it's been around awhile it is worth the money..no better for the price....easy to operate and lots of easy keys..
We were reluctant to purchase this without looking at it in the store! We did alot of research on it before we purchased it and are we ever glad we got it!! The screen size is awesome and very very clear!! Plus we like the thin style that it has! Excellent laptop for the money!! ;-)
however, came up with a little computer problem called ACER, and they informed me, they do not warrant their software, therefore, could not offer me any help without paying a fee. this computer is new, just purchased, and they want a fee to answer a question? so, no, will not recommend ACER products to anyone.
bought this laptop on black Friday 2010, for very great great price after rebate and discount...the machine arrived dec 2., fired up in same day...what an excelllent product, loving everything about it. The WiFi is super fast, taking to Barnes n noble and borders for test on wifi, excellent, the connection is incredible. Everything is top-notched, best laptop ever have for super cheap price ! The set-up is super easy, also backing up factory settings and drivers, files on disks are also very simple and easy to do! Acer is very very good machine if you don't have big dough to shell for a Macbook or other expensive laptop... The 17.3 " LED screen is marvelous for watching sport or movies.... loving this machine. Thanks black Friday !
Yes I am a female computer geek and proud of it. I have been building, fixing, programming etc for over 30 years! I was 17 when my Dad bought the TRS-80 and he never looked back. He built a business selling computers, upgrades, etc and then built a municipal accounting software business. He is the reason I am a geek. I have had an IBM Thinkpad, a Gateway, and a Dell. I had just purchased a Sony Vaio for my daughter for graduation and college and was pleased with it. I do mega amounts of research before I purchase anything so I looked for a new one for me that needed to be the bigger screen (getting older), the speedy 7200 rpm hard drive and 4gb of ram expandable to 8gb, the full keyboard, and the HD screen with HDMI out capability was the main reasons I choose this laptop but the absolute clincher was the price. To get any 17" screen laptop for under $500 is awesome! This isn't the fastest nor is it the one with alll the bells and whistles but I love it and it has more than I need and some really cool features like the camera and microphone built in.
Very pleased with it. I wasn't thrilled about ordering a brown computer, but it is a nice chocolate color and textured so I ended up really liking it. Only thing with keyboard is that I need to get used to where the delete button is, but that is just my problem. Highly suggest.
Got my new Acer Tuesday and I'm loving it with the exception of the sound. Even at maximum level, it's pretty low and not rich. Kind of sounds like an AM radio. I'm in touch with Acer support and have installed a new driver, but so far it's the same. This may be the breaking point on whether i keep it or not. My previous laptop was a Dell.
This Laptop is great..good screen.. large keyboard..a litle on the heavy side as I don't have a proper "desk" I am literally using it on my lap..a 7 pound weight 17" in diameter makes the hips ache after a bit lol. I will say this though it's a sturdy machine! I accidently dropped it on it's side on the side of the dvd-rw/cd-rw and EVERYTHING still works!! cleaning is easy.. great look... overall I'happy with this machine and I use it daily for hours on end.
The software that came with the system would not work, Mcafee, skype, microsoft 2010 starter etc. An error message would appear saying that the software was not compatible with the operating system. Called tech support, not much help there. They said the system seemed to be unstable, I really knew that. They suggested that we set it back to the original factory settings, that would not, however, it would not address the stability factor. I ask for another option, they said take it back.
I was really excited to purchase this product because in the past I have bought Acer-Aspire Laptops and have never had issues before. However, I have experienced issues with the laptop within the first two days. First, I couldn't even register the product online, it kept telling me I needed to click the box to accept the terms which the box was selected. Then my mouse would freeze in the middle of me doing projects and I would have to press the power button to completely shutdown and restart my laptop. Then my Internet settings would not stay set. I'm returning the product within 5 days of purchase.
