This present work is intended to serve a dual purpose, Study and Reference. First and foremost we aim ti put before the English speaking people a simple and reasonably comprehensive amount of information on the subject of Acupuncture, sufficient to enable anyone interested in this ancient system of healing from the Far East to practice the art; or at least to make a good beginning. With this in mind we have arranged the material in such a way as to make study simple and progressive. Enough primary notions of Yang-Yin Science are given in the early pages for a thoughtful reader thoroughly to grasp the general principles upon which the science is based. Then, logical order, we present some factors to be taken into consideration in assessment of the requirements in any particular case (danger signals, pulses, etc.) The points for treatment are arranged in groups; each group is, where convenient, sub-divided into sections so that by studying and memorizing but one sub-division at a time and by allotting one week for each such sub-division, the principal points can be learned in about six months: though, undoubtedly, there will be many who will find that they can proceed more rapidly. We then follow on with an outline of treatment methods and repertory. The repertory is intended only as a guide and should not be looked upon as complete. Secondly this book is designed for rapid reference, The grouping of points, sub-divisions of groups, and so on, should make it a simple matter to turn up information required.
