I bought this for my father for christmas and he loves it.
The WX station is great. If you buy one I would highly recommend you join wxforum to read suggestions, tips, and have your questions answered about the unit. For example I needed to raise the outdoor sensor to get accurate readings. The forum provide some great suggestions. If you plan to broadcast your station to a service like WUnderground you will need a hub. There are two current models: I bought the older model online. The newer model sells for much higher. Occasionally the maker has discount codes.
We bought this for Dad for Christmas & he loves it. Checks the weather all the time.
We love this weather center. It keeps great records of what is going on with the weather. You want one of these machines!
Great unit. Installation and setup were very easy. The display is easy to read and, comparing it to another unit, seems to be very accurate. For its price, I am quite impressed with it.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I love waking up to view my AcuRite 01517RM Wireless Weather Station. This 5-in-1 station monitors everything I need to prepare for my day. The 5-in-1 weather sensor is made of durable plastic and came with everything I needed to mount it. The mounting time took me just a few minutes. The directions were easy to read and follow. Once my unit was mounted all I had to do was turn on the 5-in-1 display sensor and make sure that both of the units were on the same channel. I was able to monitor my temperature and humidity both in and outside of my home. I also like that the monitor shows me wind speed and direction and also current rainfall amounts. The monitor is very easy to read and even has a dimming option. When the batteries are running low on my weather sensor, the display sensor will alert me so that I can go out and change them. I have also been monitoring the barometric pressure. This system has so many more functions like date and time, average and peak temperatures, storm indicators and also a personal forecast. I am very impressed with all of the information that it can display and monitor. If you are looking for a top of the line, easy to install and use weather center, then I recommend getting the AcuRite 01517RM Wireless Weather Station.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I am so glad I got this weather station. We have unpredictable weather here, so having this one has helped a lot. The first thing I really noticed about it is that it takes a little bit of time to start using. In order to detect rainfall, you have to calibrate the sensor to detect rain. This can take a while because you want to make sure you get it just right to get the most accurate reading. You don't have to calibrate the rain though in order to use this product though. You will need to install the sensor and that can take a little bit of time depending on where you install it. You just want to make sure it's in a good spot so that it can detect the weather but also a spot that won't destroy it. After you install the sensor and calibrate the rain, you just enter all of the info into the display. Once you enter this info, the sensor outside will automatically calibrate to give you accurate readings of the weather! This product can detect rainfall, wind speed, wind direction, humidity and outdoor temperature. I love that it tells you the outdoor temp and also the temp inside. This has come in handy for me, so I know what to wear for the day and if I will need an umbrella or anything like that. There is also a real time ticker at the bottom of the screen that tells you the most current temps and then it will also tell you what the highest and lowest temps of the week were. This is another thing that is nice to know! The quality of this sensor and the display are amazing. They are both heavy duty and built really well. They are both made well and I can tell that they will last me a long time. The display is amazing because it tells you so much information about the weather, both current and what will happen. It is just all around amazing and very informative! I highly recommend this product to everyone. If you want to know what the current temperatures are, what the rainfall will be, what the humidity is like and so much more.. then this is the product for you! It really is amazing and is so detailed. I have enjoyed it so far and I know you will too! Pros: Quality, Durability, Ease of Use, Detailed Cons: None yet
This is an awesome device to have. Inside/outside temp and humidity, windspeed, cumulative rainfall, and forecast. All from inside your home. Also app to check it remotely. I wanted to give it 5 stars, but the app has some programming flaws. It doesn't report rainfall correctly. The inside home device has the information correct, but if you are checking rainfall while not home, it won't be correct. Company says it is working on it. If they get this fixed, I'll gladly give it 5 stars. I did give these as Christmas presents too.
