Work's great, just the right size for home.
It's a very nice humidifier. Definitely user friendly. The "tank" is a large water bottle that easily lifts out when you open the panel on the top of the item. My DH fills it before he goes to work and then again in the evening. We are completely satisfied. Beware of extra shipping charges. I think it was worth the extra money.
We've owned our Essick 10 years and it's still doing it's job. Fine for a whole house unit, even with wood heat. However, it is awfully loud, even on lowest fan setting. Not something you want setting next to you either, quite a cool breeze coming off it. We run it in the lesser used room and, either it's not so intrusive, or we've just gotten used to it. With extremely hard well water, the wick does slow things down by end of winter usage. Would recommend the suggested water softener/demineralizing additives. If it doesn't seem to be putting out the moisture it once did, chances are you need to to replace that wick. I do take the time to unplug it, wipe everything down best I can monthly and end of season. A quick blast from the blow dryer knocks out most of the dust in hard to reach areas.
I live in the highest desert in the world, and this humidifier does add moisture to our 2500 sq ft home. However, it is quite loud when the motor is running but shouldn't be a problem to most people.
Keeps the whole apartment nice and humid…
First it arrived with a crack at the top of the water box. I fixed it with package sealing tape so the fan motor would sit on it properly. Then the cap to the reservoir bottle cracked. It had to be replaced. I just got it yesterday. Now there is a crack on the bottom near on of the castors and all the water ran out on to the floor. I am so disgusted!
Really surprised how cheap this piece of plastic is for the money. Being made out of plastic is okay, but this thing is SO thin! It actually bows under its own empty weight! The castor wheels don't stay in because the preformed holes are too big and the biggest problem...IT LEAKS! Came back 30min after filling and had a huge puddle of water on my carpet! If you buy one...test it before putting it on your carpet. The seams do not hold water where they are formed together. Having to take it back. Wasted time, gas, and money.
