Very smoothing; great protection! [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]
Simply the best ever. Smells absolutely incredible. The amount in each stick lasts FOREVER! Also the added SPF protects for long days of sun exposure. Love the high SPF count and it I buy this in bulk since I used it every day and before I go to bed each night.
I probably have about 17 of these throughout my house and my office at work. I live in a very dry/arid area, with little humidity. It's super dry in both the summer and winter, but especially in winter. So year-round, I really struggle with dry lips, ALL THE TIME. So I'm constantly drinking water and adding chap stick. I'll also add some of the chapstick to a q tip to coat my nose, as the air will also dry out the inside of my nose and becomes super uncomfortable. This is a must have at all times for me!
This sunscreen lip balm works well. I usually use it when I go hiking. It keeps my lips hydrated and protects from the sun.
When I opened it to see that it was white I instantly got worried. I was right… I look like a ate a 20pck of powdered donuts! I'll try cutting it with another lipstick that has color so it won't be so noticeable on my dark skin.
This balm is super moisturizing! It's one of my must haves in the summer. My only qualms is the flavor and spf cast. It has a little bit of a zinc taste that sometimes gets in the mouth while applying or talking. It also can have a little bit of a white cast if you apply a lot, but it's work it for the protection and hydration.
This SPF lip balm feels pretty moisturizing when I put it on, but I hate that it leaves a white residue on my lips. After using several times, the product in the tube almost feels gritty. I like that it's SPF 25, but I probably wouldn't purchase this again.
Lib balm with sunscreen is tricky for me. I can't stand the taste which leaves a balmy film around and in my mouth for a long while. It also goes on with a white rink which gunks up around the corners of my mouth. For a day skiing or surfing, it's excellent protection, but I would recommend for daily use.
I am a skincare expert and am ALWAYS looking for lip balms with sunscreen because we all know that we should be wearing sunscreen EVERY DAY. Alba Botanica Lip Balm SPF 25 is ok if you can't find a higher SPF, which I prefer. Good for them for being reef safe. It has a pleasant smell of cocoa (maybe from shea butter?) along with a little scent of SPF. It applies with a thick white cast (see photo). I can deal with a white cast because it, eventually, does go away and I combine it with a tinted on top. The texture is kind of strange and a little "sandy." There is no minty relief if your lips are chapped. I am proud of Alba for creating this product but Desert Essence Lip Rescue™ SPF 30 Lip Balm - Exotic Coconut is a MUCH better choice for SPF lip balm. You can see the review of that product on my profile. Thanks guys! -Kristen, The Skincare Concierge
I'm not happy with the white look. It also is not long lasting.
